We were determined that our little fella wasn't going to sleep upstairs, and put a baby gate across the kitchen door when we first got him.
We lasted a week. It was aweful listening to the crying and wimpering, being kept awake, and having to keep going downstairs to settle him.
The kids needed their sleep 'cos they had exams, we both work, etc etc. The sleepless nights were taking a big toll.
After a week we relented, and put his basket on the landing. He was as good as gold, and didn't make another squeek...
....until about 3-4 o clock in the morning. then he'd come to my side of the bed (i'm a big softie and his mum would make him get back in his basket), and either lick my hand, or gave a quiet little wimper. I'd pick him up and he'd settle down straight away.
Now he's big enough to jump on the bed by himself and he sleeps on top of the duvet between our feet. He even goes off to bed by himself at about 10 o clock, whether we are going or not!
Oh, and is it just me, or is anyone else surprised at how a yorkie can push you out of bed
