| I have had yorkies for 12 years and many have slept with us. We have three sleeping with us now, a 12 year old female, a 8 year old female and a 5 year old male. They are not dominant but they are very spoiled. If my vet jumped on to me like that I would be looking for another vet. I have never crated any of my dogs. |

| All 3 of our yorkies sleep with us. We have a pillow in the middle for them. We have a homemade ramp. At night my hubby say bed time and they all come running and get on the pillow. We love it

| All I have to say is okay kids bed time and i have 2 yorkies and 2 pompoos that race to the bed, one by one they go up the stairs we bought ( I have a high profile bed) and they all scurry to their normal places...... lol Then its a toss up as to who will snore first one of our fur kids or DH......lol No aggression allowed just snores!!!!!! We wouldn't have it any other way!!!!!!

| Thor's Human Donating Member | It depends on the school of thought you subscribe to. Some people say it encourages dominant behavior, so it's bad. Some people say that it's natural for dogs to sleep with their packmates, so it's good. You can pick your philosophy. ![]() I will never forget the first time I dogsat for Thor. He slept in bed with me, and in the morning, he rolled over to get a tummy rub. He is very protective of his tummy and had never let me touch it before. Needless to say, this melted my heart and he has slept in my bed ever since!

| Sasha & Xavier both sleep in their crates at night. I'd love for Xavier to sleep with us, but we're afraid we'd hurt him in our sleep somehow. (I tend to move around a lot in my sleep.) Sasha has never gotten into a normal potty routine, so she will most likely always sleep in her crate.

| my oldest, kenji, didn't sleep in the bed with me till he was housetrained. i crated him at night. he's the first dog i ever owned so i was very strict with him and followed the book. with my new baby, kingston, i tried crating him and following the same method when raising kenji, but he would cry when he saw kenji sleep on my bed while he was in his crate. he would give me the saddest look, so i eventually caved in. kingston has been sleeping in my bed with me and kenji. he likes to sleep right next to me while kenji sleeps at the foot of the bed. there are no dominance issues, but i can tell it's just going to take me a lot longer to housetrain him.

| I really like the idea of it....but Twinkle isn't a snuggler, she likes her own space. She has her lovely squishy bed in her crate and she runs straight to it as soon as I say 'bedtime'. Wicket's only been home a day and he had his first night in his crate last night and all went well. I agree with the majority of these posts: I can't see that there's a problem with it as long as there are no agression or dominance issues. Each to their own. xxx xxx

| YT 1000 Club Member | My 3 sleep with me. Friday is crate trained but she prefers to cuddle at bedtime. I have never had any issues with them. I have never understood why some think they would become dominant or aggressive just by being in the bed or going through the door first or walking in front of you on a walk. If you have ever watched the discovery channel when they had the wolves on you would see for yourself the pecking order of the pack. The Alpha pair are the pack leaders and they let the others know when they get out of line. But there is no you can't sleep with them or walk ahead of them.I treat my 3 like members of the pack and they are well adjusted.

| Depends on what is best for YOU and your puppy. Since we are talking about yorkies here (and not great danes, whihc will eventually get too large for a bed to share), and they do not get very big, do you think you can handle a dog taking up most of the room in your bed? Is your significant other okay with this? (yes, they are tiny and do love to sprawl out all over the bed) Do you have a ramp or puppy stair that your dog can get down off the bed if he/she needs or wants to? Do you mind a dog up against you, constricting your room to move during sleep? Do you sleep recklessly and move often? (You could hurt your puppy in your sleep!) Do you mind being licked when your puppy is awake but you may not be ready to be awoken yourself? These are some questions taht need to be answered. If it is okay with you, and safe for your puppy, I say go for it. I sleep with my Bella and she does love to snuggle and take up most of the bed, but I usually sleep alone and only on occasions do I have my boyfriend over to join. When he does, Bella sleeps right inbetween us or up against one of our sides. |

| What would be the natural pack sleeping habits. Do all the pups not sleep near or with the Alpha? Wouldn't that be the more natural habit? Do they not all share the same bed? Would it be less natural to put one of the pack in their own bed separate from the pack? I am just raising some questions here. |

| For their first year, until I was comfortable with their potty schedules, they slept in their crates. Now I have stairs that lead up to the bed. I took the doors off their crates; if they want to sleep in there, they do. If they want to sleep with us, they do. Sometimes it's between us. Sometimes it's on the satin pillow I put on the bed for them. Sometimes it's where the comforter bunches up between the mattress and the footboard. They sleep where they wish. I also keep a piddle pad in the bedroom, just in case. They don't use it very often, less than once a month. |

| I agree with the others. If Loli isn't showing any aggressive tendencies then I would consider changing vets. |
