| I got my Runt directly from a PUPPY MILL I have spent well over $300.00 on vet bills alone. But I would never....ever get rid of him! As far as buying from petland I would in a heart beat to SAVE a puppie from what my little dog has gone through in his short little life. Yes it is hard work but I am rewarded everyday when he slowly walks up to me for a special treat I have for him. We have struggled through alot together and hopefully someday he will become more social with people. I LOVE him and all dogs (animals) deserve to be loved it doesn't matter where you get them it just matters what YOU can give them!!!!!! Because trust me when I say spending big bucks doesn't assure a nice dog. Shelters are a great place to start looking. Good luck

My point was that the puppies that I saw were NOT adorable, nor did they look loving. They weren't playful or social, they were huddled in the corner and looked sick, and they cost MUCH more than what you would pay buying from a decent breeder. Please don't think that I was being judgemental, I OWN a petstore dog and we've had nothing but health problem after health problem costing us THOUSANDS of dollars. She has never gotten over her timidness. No matter how much love we give her, she's never TRULY enjoyed life because she is always sick and scared (of nothing and EVERYTHING). My petstore dog will be very lucky if she see's age 8.

| Not a yorkie, and definitely not a dog, but I did get my cat from an indoor mall pet store 9 years ago coming up this summer. I didn't know any better back then. Especially with the overpopulation of cats in this world and the many who need homes still. I feel really awful for not having put any thought into it when I bought the 10 week young kitten I saw in their window display / play area for $90 and even made use of their free vet check and so forth. Luckily, she's been the healthiest little thing ever in spite of later finding out she may have been born with one defective tiny little kidney, but, thankfully, her normal working one is going on strong. She is a very curious and relatively active kitty (until her spay) and very rarely gets sick and is pretty good about not throwing up hairballs often in spite of her medium length hair. She's really smart and pretty easy to train. Very people oriented and is good with either tolerating or accepting new furry additions to the household. She had lost some of her bravery since her spay years ago, but that just means I don't have to worry about her running away and getting lost in the outside world. I was never a cat person although I always thought kittens were cute--not until I felt I had to have her. |

| I got my baby from a pet store cause I didn't know that is was wrong to I found out later when I joined a forum. I think if people know the truth and then still buy from a pet store then they are wrong and they are contributing to the suffering, JMO |

| I got Bubba from a pet store but they "assured" me that he came from a reputable breeder. On the way home he started coughing and by the next morning it was obvious that something was wrong, so off to the vet. The vet advised me to return him under the puppy lemon law but he had already won my heart so I opted to treat him. After several weeks and different antibiotics it turned into pneumonia and I cried myself to sleep most nights. Many days I took off work to stay home and take care of him. Finally the pneumonia got better but since it was the first time the vet was really able to clearly hear his heart we found he has a heart murmur. I wish I had done research before hand but wouldn't give him up for the world. As for Sissy, well she came to me at 6 months from a rescue-had belonged to a woman and children abandoned by the husband-and she may well be a puppy mill product also but is loved to pieces. Would I buy from a pet store again?-no way and I do the best I can to educate family members and friends on the conditions and problems that are rampant in these mills.

| I got my first , puppy ever in my whole life from a breeder. That is Suzi. She Just turned one . She was 9weeks old and already 3 lbs. She is a 7lber and came out of the first litter of pups. There were just 3pups and she was the only female. I wanted a girl, and asked the breeder to hold her for me until i could get there. Thankfully she had . It has been wonderful ever since then! There was only one pet store in my area that sold puppies back then . However, they had no yorkies. And that is what I was looking for .

| Thought about it... I seen some cute puppies at Petland a few years ago, but when I asked about the breeder and it's health / genitics, they refused to tell me who the breeder was. That's when I knew something was up with this store. So glad I didn't support them, but feel bad for them puppies in those cages. My Yorkie's a rescue and my GP and TP are from what I know now to be BYB Great question / topic for a thread. Was interesting to read everyone's comments.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | That was my understanding also. The cats are from an organization trying to adopt them.
