After several weeks and different antibiotics it turned into pneumonia and I cried myself to sleep most nights. Many days I took off work to stay home and take care of him. Finally the pneumonia got better but since it was the first time the vet was really able to clearly hear his heart we found he has a heart murmur. I wish I had done research before hand but wouldn't give him up for the world. As for Sissy, well she came to me at 6 months from a rescue-had belonged to a woman and children abandoned by the husband-and she may well be a puppy mill product also but is loved to pieces. Would I buy from a pet store again?-no way and I do the best I can to educate family members and friends on the conditions and problems that are rampant in these mills. |
This sounds like what happened to us when we bought our Lhasa Poo at a mall pet store not knowing better years ago. I took her to the vet and he did a temperment test on her and said to return her under the lemon law. I called the pet store they wouldn't give any info and refused to take the dog back. I let them know I had her tested and a licensed vet who said to return her under the lemon law. She wasn't happy when she called me back but gave a day and time to do it. Well it took weeks of this going back and forth with the vet and the store, by then we/kids were attached and kept her. We just had to learn how to handle her. She didn't turn out to be that bad temperment wise after awhile. We loved her like crazy after awhile and when she passed away last year after 10 years of being with us she left a huge hole in our hearts and home.
