I got Bubba from a pet store but they "assured" me that he came from a reputable breeder
. On the way home he started coughing and by the next morning it was obvious that something was wrong, so off to the vet. The vet advised me to return him under the puppy lemon law but he had already won my heart so I opted to treat him. After several weeks and different antibiotics it turned into pneumonia and I cried myself to sleep most nights. Many days I took off work to stay home and take care of him. Finally the pneumonia got better but since it was the first time the vet was really able to clearly hear his heart we found he has a heart murmur. I wish I had done research before hand but wouldn't give him up for the world. As for Sissy, well she came to me at 6 months from a rescue-had belonged to a woman and children abandoned by the husband-and she may well be a puppy mill product also but is loved to pieces. Would I buy from a pet store again?-no way and I do the best I can to educate family members and friends on the conditions and problems that are rampant in these mills.
