My Harley came from a vet after his owner abandonded him and my Angel came from a BYB. Until I got my little Harley, and joind yorkie groups, I never knew about puppy mills or BYB's. NOW I try to eductae as many as I can about them. I carry my soapbox wherever I go. LOL Vickie's Custom Creations | WE DON'T LOOK GOOD UNLESS YOUR DOG LOOKS GOOD!

Yes, that is what they did with Tobie, they were saleing him for a "discount" price which was hardy a discount but it doesn't matter he was worth ever penny. Tobie was 15 weeks when I got him, I wish that I knew about puppy mills it makes me mad that I supported something so horrible.

| YT 2000 Club Member | All of my dogs came from breeders. I got my sheltie from a friend of my moms, he was sold to another person that beat him as a pup. Once the breeder found out he was taken from that home by the breeder, I got him from her at 1.5 years old. He is now 8 and a wonderful dog. My beagle and my toy poodle both came from reputable breeders, that only had a few litters a year. I waited along time for my poodle . My yorkiepoo came from a friend. Wasnt planning on adding another dog to our family, but saw the pups the day they were born and of course fell in love. . Ive certainly been in petstores before and ohh and aahed over the dogs, but they were always priced so high that we never decided to get one. I didnt no that those poor pups were puppymillers. My cousin got a dog from a pet store, paid a almost 4000 dollars for her and the dog is a nut case.

| I got Buddy from someone who didn't want him anymore. She had given us all his paperwork and I did my research as to where he came from. I had no idea about puppymills and BYB until YT. I found out that Buddy came from a petsore called Wentz Canine in PA, and before that he came from a place called Lambiar...I don't know if anyone has heard about them before?? I then traced the paperwork to where Buddy was actually born, which was somewhere in Kansas My newly adopted Maltese came from Lambriar also!!, and she was born in Nebraska. I can't imagine what my babies had gone through prior to me getting them!! Luckily Buddy has been a happy and healthy yorkie, my maltese Lilu has been having some stomach issues (she is seeing the vet tonight). I have written to my local legislation about puppymills since I live in PA, not too far from Lancaster...which has one of the worst reputations for puppymills. |

| I got Buddy from a brooker/petstore. I didn't know it then but I know it now after finding YT. He came with paper's and a vet visit within 48hrs. He was welped in Budapest, Hungary. I took him to their vet, which turned out to also be my girlfriend's. He stated he checked him when he came for his first visit from the brooker. He remembered him because he had the cleanest ear canals he has ever seen on a puppy and remember his size, 6lbs at the time, 14 wks old. I got lucky. He was beautiful and healthy and still is. I would never purchase another now that I know about puppymills and BYB. Actually, I would only purchase another if I can actually see them and met the parent's. Perhaps a rescue down the road may also be an option. I really want another but not until I retire. |

| YT 1000 Club Member | Roxie came from a pet store. Like most others here it was before I knew about mills or byb's. All I know is that the store had only been open for a week in our local mall. I didn't know it was there untill hubby and I walked by and I saw the cutest little yorkie and fell in love. I had been wanting one for awhile but hadn't really did any research. It was just love at first site and hubby was had too. I have posted about this before, Roxie was developing a cough which turned bad pretty quickly. We had picked her up from the pet store on Saturday afternoon and had her to the vet first thing Monday morning. I thought she was going to die in my hands. There was no way I was taking her back to that pet store even though I should have done much more. I nursed her back to health and she's a wonderful healthy dog. Only thing wrong with her is that her bark is like a whisper. I think the sickeness scarred her vocal chords. She sounds horse or kind of like a squeak. Some people think we're lucky because of it but I'd rather her be able to bark normally. If she were ever to get into any trouble she'd never be able to warn us with her bark. Anyway she'll be 2 on Sunday and I love her more then I ever thought it was possible to love a pet. I've loved all my pets but this is different. I do have all her papers with the breeders name and her parents and a family tree. I've tried to google the breeder but have never found anything. That's my story. |

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I have bought from a BYB and a pet store before I knew better. I paid top $ at the BYB and pet store and those dogs had the shortest life span and most health problems. My Humane Society adoptions lived many many years, my Yorkie that I adopted from a no kill animal rescue has been healthy thus far.

| I just don't understand why someone would WANT to buy from a Petstore whether the puppies came from puppymills or not. I was in Petland last night, because my kids like to check out the animals when we are in that area doing grocery shopping. I refuse to spend even one penny in there...but anyways there were 3 Yorkie puppies and I asked a few questions about them just for fun. These Yorkies were between 8-9 lbs and were 16 weeks old. They were UNregisterable, they had long noses, curly fur and weren't very nice looking. They looked like they were crossed with maybe a poodle or a silky, although the saleswoman claimed they were purebred. The cost.....$1799! I paid $995 for Missy from a breeder and she's a much nicer representation of the breed. Plus, you have to use THEIR vet or your little "one year health guarantee (with a $1000 limit)" is void. The saleswoman was babbling on and on about how their puppies don't come from puppymills (as she stammers and doesn't look me in the eye), the weird part was she was offering this information without me even asking LOL! Then she started telling me about health problems dogs from their store have had, and how some people can't afford the vet bills so they bring them back and then they sell the dogs for $100 just so they can have homes. She was mentioning things like collapsed trachea's, hip dysplasia, heart problems...but in the same breath saying their puppies only come from reputable breeders and they visit each of their breeders homes to view the parents of the puppies. WHAT A JOKE!

| I just don't understand why someone would WANT to buy from a Petstore whether the puppies came from puppymills or not. They buy because the puppy's are adorable, loving and they want one. I am not at all sorry I bought Buddy from a pet store. Not for one minute. I thank the puppy God that he is healthy as a horse, yes I was one of the lucky ones. He is also beautiful. He's bigger but I knew that when I bought him, acutally I bought him because he was bigger. Never realizing he would get to 16lbs tho. Face it, breeder's also sell sick dogs. You read it every day on YT. I won't buy from a pet store ever again now that I do no about puppymills and BYB however I am not sorry I bought Buddy. |
