![]() The first auction I went to back in spring of 08 yorkies were selling for $75-100. But because of the glutted market (partially created by rescues) and the economy, over the summer the price began to drop. And, the last auction I went to many sold for $50 and under. The only yorkies that sold for more were the tiny females and I did see one sell for $100.

![]() I have tried not to read these posts b/c the visions I am seeing in my brain are making me cry...I can not fathom dogs selling for 1 penny ![]() This is insane, the whole "animal auction" - I can't understand how all of this goes on here in the USA ![]() I wish Oprah would do her next puppymill segment on the Dog Auctions....

The pathetic manner in which these dogs are kept would BREAK your heart The noise and the stench are something you can't describe. The sadness and fright in each dogs eyes still haunts me. I can see why people think it's a good thing to buy them up - get them out of there. BUT that is where the problem lies - the more that show up and buy, the more the breeders will produce - it's what I keep trying to get across - and with OKYR it keeps falling on deaf ears! As much as it pains me to leave these dogs, I've come to realize rescues have to quit buying these auction dogs. For every dog a rescue thinks they are saving, they are condemning many more to a life of hell. I hope rescues that buy auction dogs are satisfied with themselves knowing they are part of the problem and not the solution.

![]() And I think it is sad that if you speak your mind about a rescue you are banned. ![]() It is a public organization. People should have this knowledge-people should own up to mistakes and try to work to change them. I have read where many YT people bought from pet stores or byb's before they were educated on the topic. We all learn. And when owned up too and a change made for the better-there is much less fault, and people are more apt to forgiveness. To ban members just drives the secrecy of the organization. JMO ![]()

If people stop buying from pet stores, Puppy Mills will not have a market to serve. If people stop buying from auctions, auctions will not have a market to serve.

![]() I still see so much pro and con here. I guess my first problem is who will rescue the ones nobody wants. What will happen to them. Who will care. I don't see how people selling a dog for $.01 making anything or even $50. And what happens if that one guardian angel isn't there for him or her. If rescue goes in with the mind set to just sweep up the ones that were discarded than nobody is supporting anybody or anything. They are just the guardian angels that picks them up and gives them that one last chance, that one last hope, if it be for one hour or one day left of their life. I am talking about the ones they put in the back rooms, the ones that don't sell, to be hauled away to their final resting ground. Never knowing what it was like to be held, to be comforted, to have a human look in their eyes and say, its ok now, you're safe, I'm here. So sad, so sad.

No matter how much it hurts, I believe that no one should show up at those auctions. It IS being a part of the problem and not part of the solution. I personally would not step foot at one of those things because I would be in a world of trouble. And, even IF I could contain myself, I could not walk away with a load of dogs knowing that I was making more room for others to be neglected and/or abused. The bottom line is that these people ARE making money...does anyone think they would go there if they were not???? Sure..they might sell a few really cheap....that is just bait. They are making money!!!!

![]() How many states allow dog auctions? Is it just Missouri? I am researching this but maybe somebody here has it at their finger tips. If it is just the state of Missouri, I would like to contact the legislators in the those districts to get a feel for their thoughts on this and if any legislation is being introduced to stop the auctions.

I guess I could understand if a person was outright malicious in trying to destroy the person's reputation or whatnot, but to ban a "volunteer" because they spoke up? So my question is, were you the only one banned and if so is it because you started this thread and made people aware? I don't get it.
