It means that it is a tax exempt charity. There is more information on the Internal Revenue website: Exemption Requirements

I just wonder if a rescue would put the time, money & energy into exposing and putting a stop to these auctions as they do in purchasing puppies what kind of difference they would make. It can be done and has been done. I just read an article where one was protested in Ohio and drew plenty of media and such. See, at the end of the day its nice to say we've made a difference in a few dogs life but imagine what a rescue could do with their volunteers (even the now banned ones) and the media. Its easy to say you are making a difference and if you convince yourself of it then so be it but again, by purchasing these dogs only makes room for more cute puppies to be brought in for the next time. I know, I know.. the newspaper was notified the one time... Big deal.. I am not talking about little newspapers, How about the big shows, like Oprah, who has already covered mills...there are too many people that would be willing to step in to help stop these auctions...but as long as we have individuals & rescues buying from them instead of standing up for ALL the dogs... then they(auctions/mills) will continue to flourish!

| I remember when I was following puppymillrescue Home Page they had lawyers on their forum fighting this very thing. They had transports set up all over the U.S. to transport the rescued auction dogs once they were bought and were placed into foster homes. However, if my memory serves me right, they were after the total rejects and never purchased puppies unless they were being discarded. For those out there wanting a Biewer so bad, have you ever made contact with good breeders in the states who remove some of their breeders from their programs? Or for that matter, even a Yorkshire Terrier breeder? They are always looking for good homes for their retired breeders or puppies they can't sell and want to get into a good pet home. |

Administrator | We are now closing this thread, as the thread has gone off topic from the original post. Members are free to donate to whatever cause or organization that they would like. We urge all members to fully research any rescue organization they may be sending their money to, to avoid any potential problems in the future. Some questions you may want to ask a rescue organization are: 1. Where does my donation go? What will it be used for? 2. What is your goal in your rescue organization? 3. How do you pick which Yorkies to rescue? We wish all Yorkie rescues the best of luck, as it is an incredibly hard task. |
