| Pls Help!!! Barking!!! Hi all you yorkie lovers!!! Please help me!!! I just moved to a 2 bed condo in Irvine, CA. My 1.5 year old male Yorkie who is used to living in a large single family home is now barking at every little sound, day and night!!! I am afraid neighbors will complain. What can I do?!? Have you guys used shocker collars or citronella spray collar or battery operated "petsafe ultrasonic (makes ultrasonic noise) bark control pet training system"??? Which one is effective?? Which one is good?? Please help!!! So desperate. I want to keep my dog, you all know how that feels!!! Thank you very much!!!

| I know the ultrasonic things work, at least one time that i used it. My dad has one for work because he has to go into peoples yards to read their power usage and work on power lines on farms and stuff where there are a lot of dogs around. He brought it home one day and I tried it on my brother's miniature american eskimo puppy and as soon as i pressed the button he shut up and his ears perked up. They also have ones that you can just put in a room and it'll detect your dog's bark so you don't have to be around and you also don't have to put a collar on your yorkie which is a hazard. Hope this helped!

| Rinse out a coke can, drop in 10 pennies and shake it at your dog every time he barks. I did this to Chewy and it nipped it in the bud! |

Anyways, I bought an ultrasonic machine and it worked the first night but now he just ignores it...he barks constantly from the first sound until we let him out.

| We tried the ultrasonic device on a previous yorkie barker. It didn't work for her - just riled her up more. But she had other issues that probably aggravated the whole problem. We use a water bottle and that works pretty well (Coby's about to get a squirt as we speak!!). I'd be interested in hearing experience with the citronella collars if anyone has tried them or if they make them that small.

| I keep hearing about the water bottle suggestion but I was wondering what kind of bottle people use? Most of the water bottles I've seen are ones that squirt out a stream of water. I think I'd prefer one with more of a mist type of spray. Also, do you spray it on their face/nose or somewhere on the body? Quote:

I got my bottle at wal-mart - standard spray bottle, but in a lovely color to match my decor. You can turn the nozzle to make it mist or stream. Depends on how far away Coby is which I use. I spray it pretty close to the face (but avoid the eyes). Since it's just water, it shouldn't hurt them. But if straight water isn't doing the trick, I've heard of adding vinegar or lemon juice to the water (it would be similar to the citronella collars), but then you would need to be very careful to avoid the eyes. Some days I think I just need a holster for my water bottle but it really does work and doesn't frighten or hurt them, just distracts them. It works when my two dogs' wrestling matches get out of hand or if he's jumping too much, etc.

| My brother-in-law uses a citronella spray that he is satisfied with. He reinforces it with a verbal command. After a while the verbal command was sufficient without the collar. Here is a link for what he uses: http://gentlespray.com/index.php?mai...&products_id=3 I hope this is helpful! |

| This has made my house very quiet, for 20 CENTS, the can and the pennies, LOLOL. 4 days, 4 dogs, and don't even need the can. I just say 'quiet' softly.
