| Will my Yorkie stop marking if he gets neutered? Will my Yorkie stop marking if he gets neutered?

| It is very possible.. I took in my first rescue that was two years old and I had him neutered.. he was not trained at all... and he did train.. takes time and patience.. but it can happen...I would use a belly band at night and watch him by day.. if he has access to outside via doggie door then it is harder to put a belly band on in the house..but they generally do not like the belly band making them wet.. IMO only and what happened with me.. anne |

| Just my luck he doesn't mind getting wet. I'm going to try to only use the belly band at night. Right now I use the beans in a can trick every time he lifts his little leg. It's not working. What do I do when I catch him lifting his leg or peeing?

| That makes training easy when you can catch them.. I pick them up... take them outside and say go potty outside... and I use outside each time we are going out.. always being as consistant as possible with words and how you do it.. again patience.. but being patient is the most important... for with consistency becomes habit.. and if your making this a good habit.. it will come to him.. some are quicker then others.. I have a stud male that goes outside.. for this is what we do.. and at night I use a belly band.. and he will even at times use the potty pad... but I have had him 6 months and I just do not get mad.. that makes things worse...hope this helps... anne |

| It's possible. How old is he though? Often times, a dog under a year old will stop after being neutered, but generally speaking, getting a dog neutered before 6 months of age will prevent marking more. I think it's worth it to give it a shot as I think neutering is the right thing to do anyways, but that's just my opinion! I think it makes for an all around better pet. Quote:

| Usual responce is yes but sadly maybe not. If it is now a ingrained learned habit it will take time to get it stopped. I would use a leash and have him attached to you so that if he goes to pee you can snag him and run outside and reward him for going pee where you want him to. Please make sure that you have cleaned well the places he was marked before to help with the smell getting in the way of his relearning what he is to do. JL

| Marking My Yorkie is a year old. I had him neutred as soon as the vet said he was old enough--but he marks anyway. He potties outside--these aren't potty accidents, it's marking. And even though I clean the areas thoroughly, he likes the same spots. He knows it's bad (I can tell by the look on his face when I do catch him) but he's Really Sneaky so I am thinking about trying a belly band. |

Go with what works. If beans in a can doesn't work, try a loud double clap, which is what I used, or just lifting him up and going outside. Every boy is different. For some the can with beans or pennies works, for some the double clap does. They're all different and the hardest part of your job will be to figure out what works for the both of you. Combine that with patients and consistency and you should be on your way. GOOD LUCK!!!

Nature's Miracle is a GOD SEND...we moved into a house that the people before us let their cats pee on the cement utility room floor. Bought a gallon soaked it and let it dry[ with pets out of site of course...and my cats nor my yorkie are drawn to it. I have it in a spray bottle in every room right now....Couldn't live without it!!!!!! | |
