| ![]() Well I'm glad to report that Tucker is doing better with his potty training, however, he is still pooping/peeing in his crate. A few weeks ago DH and I made the decision to place a potty pad under a large laundry basket and that is Tucker's home when we are at work. I just hated him having to lay in his waste and it didn't matter how small we made the crate he still did it and then he would bark to let us know he did it and to come clean it up ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() hey..sorry you are having so much trouble with your little one. All yorkies have different personalities and it takes longer to potty train them and then there are yorkies that catch on instantly! How old is your baby? If you are gonna very long during the day it would be easier to connect an expen or expanable pen that connects to the crate itself anf line it with puppy pads or newpapers so he can use it. You just have to work with them everyday and don't give up! Hang in there! |

| ![]() I have the same issue and I am totally lost and feel like giving up. I think my little one is so use to being couped up in a crate/pen that he is use to going to bathroom where he sleeps. I have learned to pick up on when he needs to goto the potty and take him outside now that he is somewhat use to being outside but still listens to every little sound and will do nothing at all but run around and after 20-30min outside I bring him back in put him in his pen boom he goes to the bathroom try to softly say no take him back out nothing. I was told to leave him in with the pee/poop for a certain amount of time all he will do is walk all thru it like it is not even there. I am also having trouble with him getting use to the pen/crate you put him in there he gets so excited so the pee pads and newspaper get pushed all over I try to ignore him so he calms down but will continue to do it. People tell me not to leave him in the crate for long periods of time but how will he ever get use to it. I have almost the same issues to a point I am thinking about taking him to a training class. | ![]() I don't know if this will help or not, but when we first got Hot Rod, he was from a store and not potty trained. The family room was closed off to the rest of the house. I got up every 3 hours (he was 15-16 weeks old) to have him go potty whether he was awake or not and he would usually go. We would make a big deal and say "Good boy" and pet him and give him a treat. He would use pad at times when we weren't looking directly at him so as far as he knew, we didn't see him so we started to lessen the treats. We then got an xpen and he has everything he needs in it, it's been wonderful! I also have a baby monitor that I used before the xpen in case he woke up before the 3 hours. He has a few accidents but he is pretty much potty trained now and he even goes outside for us. We noticed that he would go about 10 minutes after waking up in am so we started taking him outside and he's been pretty consistent with that. If we are late coming down, he uses pad. He's been really, really good. You've got to be really on top of it and keep to a schedule of sorts. Patience pays off and staying on top of it is necessary but it is great when you know he does what he is supposed to. I recently opened his area to include hallway and kitchen area. He had 2 accidents but now he's okay with the new territory. Hope this gives some help. ![]()

| ![]() was the kennel you have enclosed? for crate training your suppose to use the plastic kind, that are only big enough for them to stand up and turn around. And no room for anything else... pee pads, water bowl..nothing. If there's still a little room in there, then get a small box or something to block off the extra space. You get one of the water bottles, like for a rabbit cage and attach it to the kennel. I think he's still got too much room in there which is why he still thinks its okay... ![]()

| ![]() I don't know if this will help but my crate came with a divider to make it smaller so that they won't go inside of it.. I have one of the wire crates, I got it from petsmart. I have never used it but it allows you to adjust the amount of space inside the crate. Izzie had a few accidents inside the crate but I think it was more our fault than hers. What I did when she wouldn't go on the pad was put her in the crate for 15mins or less then take her back to the pads, I would do this back n forth until she finally realized that if she goes on the pad she will be able to play. I luck out that she caught on but I was scared she would never, it takes time. Good Luck and don't be discouraged ![]()
