I have the same issue and I am totally lost and feel like giving up. I think my little one is so use to being couped up in a crate/pen that he is use to going to bathroom where he sleeps. I have learned to pick up on when he needs to goto the potty and take him outside now that he is somewhat use to being outside but still listens to every little sound and will do nothing at all but run around and after 20-30min outside I bring him back in put him in his pen boom he goes to the bathroom try to softly say no take him back out nothing.

I was told to leave him in with the pee/poop for a certain amount of time all he will do is walk all thru it like it is not even there. I am also having trouble with him getting use to the pen/crate you put him in there he gets so excited so the pee pads and newspaper get pushed all over I try to ignore him so he calms down but will continue to do it.

People tell me not to leave him in the crate for long periods of time but how will he ever get use to it. I have almost the same issues to a point I am thinking about taking him to a training class.
