| I'm going to throw another 2 cents in here... It would be one thing to get this pup at little or no cost on agreement (contract) of providing the pup with the needed surgeries etc...its another to buy a pup with said contract on the basis the breeder was setting up, which is unfair in my opinion.

Just going through the spay and repair of the two hernias was going to be stressful enough. Thank you for your kind words. I put almost $900.00 damage on our Jeep Grand Cherokee, just from "bumping" my neighbors truck. We were moving at a few miles an hour, I "tapped" my brake, stuff theRich had put in the Jeep for the garage sale, fell into the front seat, it startled me, and my foot slipped off the brake. I was just grateful that Kia was ok, she was harnessed into her Celltei tote-o-pet, in the rear passenger seat.

But I didn't feel it was fair to pay $1,800.00 AND the cost of the repair surgery. I really wish she had told me about the hernias, when we spoke about the tiny girl on the phone, and then, I wouldn't have gone to her house. But, maybe it was a life lesson for me. Never assume a breeder is going to cover the cost of a congenital defect. I just want anyone that read my 1st review to go into it, knowing the facts, if they decide to contact the breeder about the tinier girl.

You definitely made the right decision to pass on this puppy! I really feel that it is best to wait awhile before doing breeder reviews. This time will allow you to really "see" how the breeder responds to you over time, and how well the puppy matures into a healthy adult.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | I am so sorry to hear that I don't feel you are bashing her. You are simply telling the truth. You have put her name out there as being a good breeder. It is only fair that you tell us your other experience in dealing with her. |

| Thank you, Lynzy......that is my sweet little Kia. She will be 14 years old in December. She is in very early renal failure, but doing great on a homemade renal failure diet, from Hill's provided to Vet's for their patients that won't eat their canned k/d. Her urine is actually yellow again and smells like urine! Never imagined in my life, I'd be thrilled to smell pee! |

I learned a valuable lesson.....I will never again, post a breeder review, until, as you said, I have had my puppy a year, and really see how the breeder responds to any issues during the course of that year. I think, I was just so impressed with this breeder, from speaking with her, at great length on the phone, esp. with what she said about her health guarantee, covering genetic health problems, that I never imagined she wouldn't cover the cost of the hernia repair surgery. And spending time with her, in her home. My Vet told me that inguinal hernias are a congenital defect. And, if she had been willing to cover the cost, I would still have bought the puppy. So, maybe in restrospect, it is for the best that she refused.

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | I agree with other posters Breed Bashing is not what you were doing...you simply told the truth about your experience with her. As for her guarantee against congenital defects...why would she not cover the cost of the surgery...so exactly what did the guarantee cover? Curious.

| It's unbelievable to me that a reputable breeder would expect someone to take a defective puppy without reducing the price or covering the cost of the repairs herself. I also would have expected her to have contacted you immediately once the hernias were first found so you could be informed as soonas possible of this development and make appropriate decisions with that knowledge, particularly with your own medical condition. I have never heard of such a thing and though I haven't had that many Yorkies myself, I have done a lot of phone calling, going to meet breeders, see their dogs/living quarters and talked to an awful lot of other pet owners about their purchase situations and breeders. Never have I come across this one. It was responsible of you to post this information for anyone who might now or in the future consider dealing with this breeder. It is certainly something I would want to know about her. And whatever kind of dogs of she had, frankly I for one would not be dealing with her, knowing how she treated you. i'm sure sorry you've had your hopes and dreams for life with this little one dashed. I hope and pray you find the dog you need and want very, very soon. Please keep us posted on your progress.

I never actually saw her health guarantee on paper, she told me on the phone that she had a one year health guarantee for genetic health issues. So.....like you, I am left curious, as to what her guarantee does cover.
