| Breeder Refusing to give us papers! Help! Bought a yorkie for my wife one month ago. Breeder told the pups were registered. Showed us mom and dad. Advised she would send us registration papers by mail. Called today to find out where they were - breeder now states that she never told us that dog had papers or that she would send any papers to us. She told us that she the dog to us as a pet - wehave no intent on breeding him - scheduled to be nuetered next week. Any advice on what I can do? Last edited by YorkieinKC; 03-28-2007 at 12:35 PM. | Unfortunately, I don't really think there is much you can do, at least not as far as getting help from any of the known registries. Evem if you took her to court, it would just be your word against hers, unless you have a signed sales agreement that they were registerable. I know that is probably NOT what you wanted to hear... |

| No, it's not - but it's what I was afraid of. She originally told us that she was registering them with 2 different associations and that when she got the paperwork back, that she would mail us the paperwork. Now, one month later, it's a whole new story. I guess I could take out an ad in the paper she advertises in and tell people to be aware of the way she operates. |

| This makes me mad, what some ppl will do for a dollar is unreal.. I do like your idea about the paper deal maybe his will open the 'breeder' eyes not to tell lies just for a dollar.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

but like what the others has said...it is difficult to prove unless there was a signed contract in place. but don't usually when the puppies are ready to go, the paperwork should also have arrived in time for the breeder to give to the family that purchased the furbaby? Just curious.

| If I were you, I would write a letter about what has happened with all of her details in it, and send it to the AKC and any others just in case she is listed with them and does register some of her pups. You could ask them if they know her, and just put them in the picture - I am sure they will suspend her. |

| pup Do you have any paper work stating you are buying a registered puppy? Did she sdvertize in the newspaper or any ad, the pups were registered? If so you can sue in Small Claims...I would contact her vet by phone and letter, incase this vet refers buyers to her...my vet does this and if unhappy buyers contacted him, I am sure he would stop...or at east talk with me about the problem. AND..you can complain to the newspaper that her ad was fraud... |

| When you buy a registered puppy, the seller ALWAYS has the forms that they have signed and given to you so you can fill it out and mail it in. ALWAYS. Never buy a puppy without that paper. I'm sorry you were scammed, but I'm afraid you won't be able to do a thing about it. Did you at least get the puppy for less than she's selling the AKC ones? |

| Some people will do anything for a buck. I've always lucked out and got the papers when I picked up the puppy. If you're not going to show or breed her, and are happy with her try not to get to upset. I too would contact all the registries, and see if they can help you out. |

| I am sorry that you are going through this. I am actually having similar situation... too. It is hard... I guess we both need to try our best to have good communication with the breeder. All we can do is to try our best. Everyone here is giving you great suggestions!! For me, I have been having rough time reaching the breeder and last time I got her on the phone, she told me that she sent the paperwork for registration and was going to send me an another one but I have never received it.. so I couldn't register my girl! But thanks to you!! I felt that I wasn't alone. So I am gonna try our best, so please do the same!! Good luck!

| I think it is very uncommon that a breeder would not have the papers for the puppy at the time you pick it up. The only reason should be if they just did not file them in time or they were delayed for some reason. I did go through this when I purchased Katie, although there were circumstances to justify it as the woman had acquired the mommy from her aunt and had not gotten the new papers back. It was just a matter of waiting for them to come back and then the aunt to sign off on the puppies. I did take Katie before the papers came but I trusted this woman, as she was in contact with my vet and my son very often. I did get the papers within a couple of weeks. Under normal circumstances I would never take a new pet without the papers. Do you have a contract or anyone as a witness that she told you this? I know it was not right for this to happen but if you are not going to breed then it is still just a piece of paper. I know you will still love your baby just as much as if he had papers.
