My 4lb yorkie is pregnant by my 10lb yorkie! First timer.. Help!

I've gotten the bio of the vet Bryce went to.

I too have seen too many ACCIDENTS over the years here but am realizing that often times that is how some members end up here...they make a careless mistake that is "unforgivable" but still a careless mistake...ya know? I'm probably more concerned with the folks who never show up here, who don't care enough to even right their errors....the ones who dump their pregnant girls off at the pound, the ones who don't seek any help and end up with dead pups and moms...

I wasn't always the best pet owner, I too have had unplanned litters 30 years ago and have made many mistakes along the way. I suppose its kind of like motherhood for me because I love my fur kids as much as I do my real kids...I wasn't a perfect mother, still am not....I wasn't a perfect pet owner, still am not...I second guess my decisions all the time and although I've learned so much along the way and there are so many mistakes I will never make again...I'm still not perect....I question everyday if I've made the right decisions with Mia...secretly wishing I could make her better...last night was the first night that she was in tremendous discomfort....I wonder have I done enough?

Bryce does seem as though he is learning from us and went so far as to see a specialist, I don't condone what he has happened with this pup, ya all know I don't but I think he, unlike so many others, is trying to do the right thing now....hoping I'm not wrong. I give him some credit for researching and finding us etc...etc....etc....

Without further ado, this is the bio of the Vet he took his pup too:

Dr. (name removed) received a MS in reproductive physiology from The Ohio State University and she graduated from the same university with her DVM.

She completed a residency in comparative theriogenology (reproduction) at Purdue University and became board certified in the same year. She has worked in a variety of practice settings including general mixed practice, referral practice and academia. She believes very strongly in providing client education and speaks at breed group meetings regularly. She also speaks at many veterinary conferences and has written many journal articles on a variety of reproductive topics.

I hope you continue to research here Bryce and I hope you do get her spayed when this is all over, and give her the wonderful life she deserves....

I had already looked this vet up because I wanted to see if there really was one in Portland. I was shocked that it was approved of, so just wanted to see.....

I am still surprised....and I do hope all goes well for this pup.

I understand mistakes happen but I do hope you get her spayed after this and you keep us updated. I am praying for your little girl and the pups.

Why all the secrets in naming the Vet??? IF the Vet is any good then there should be no reason at all why the name can't be mentioned.

First of all, I don't know for a FACT that the OP went there. I am saying that I simply don't get it and I really DO NOT get it. I have never ever understood why people continue to breed tiny pups like they do. So what if I say that? Does not mean I am questioning a specialist. I too will pray for this pup, but it does not mean I have to sit here and act like I think it is a good thing that she is being put through.

It is an unwise move in my view to question the specialist'a decision if you do not know that the one you stated WAS the specialist in this case.
Now I pray for the specialist as well as the mom and pups!
If you were not sure, why risk publishing in an open forum!!!! I really am done now, sorry for the additional comments.

Huh?? Do tell me where you see this? All I did was post a link to the subject matter in another post. Pretty easy to find. It is who someone else says is the specialist who was seen. Someone else asked why not name the specialist and I still did not...I merely linked a site that the wording from the other post came from.

I did not question this particular specialist. AGAIN I don't even know if this person WAS consulted at all. I do question judgement here but not that of a vet.......I cannot imagine allowing a 4 pound intact yorkie to be around an intact male of ANY size. OK??? I disapprove of such breeding. So what? It's my story and I am sticking with it.

IF a specialist was consulted I am sure the risks of pregnancy were explained as well as the risks of aborting/spaying. They are both risky and it makes me sick this poor pup is in this position.

I don't believe that a reproductive vet would agree to continuing the pregnancy. I have known of pregnancies aborted with medication--pups either absorbed or whelped early when their is no chance of whelps surviving.

My suspicion is that there have been a lot but we don't hear about them. I personally witnessed a puppy dying one night in the Emergency Clinic and the owner refused a C-section to save the other puppy. I posted it somewhere on this forum, but people really just don't believe it will happen to them.

No secrets here, I asked for the vet, I got it...he explained why he didn't want it posted...I respected it per our pm conversation. Anyone, as Ladyjane did, could google the area for said specialists.

None of us know if he did or didn't go there, we can only take his word. I too can't understand why ANY vet, let alone a specialist would recommend going through with this pregnancy either. But going through with it he is, I pray for the pup and hope that Bryce continues to seek the professionals with this.........
