Thank you for your opinion. I know it is very unattractive, but please elaborate on why you don't think it is cosmetic. Thanks in advance. Jen

A roach bach or down in the shoulders is a sructure defect. How the bones are put together. For example scoliosis in a human would be a close example. Anything that is structure related will have a direct effect on the soundness of the dog. The spine is one of the most important things in your dogs make up. When I think of cosmetic I do not think or a roach back. To me cosmetic would be- something very minor that I can fix with out much effort. Off the top of my head I am blank at this time to give a good example. Ok this might work- lets say your dogs ears are a little too round at the tips- and I use my clippers or scissors to cut/shape the hair in points that may be considered cosmetic. Please help - breeders I am comimg up short on what I am trying to explain the differance between cosmetic and the strutcure.

The roach is caused by the shape of the vertebrae. If it were a structural fault, we would not have breeds such as Whippets that call for a rounded back. JMHO Jen

| Cosmetic would be considered enhancements IMHO like a tail dock or ear crop. I believe the words you may wanted to have used would be a liveable fault. If the soundness of the dog is at all in question it should not be bred you can take up or down the ears, up or down the muzzle, correct body proportion, length of leg or body or coat when you take the best of both in a breeding pair, but you rarely can correct an unsound body structure.

Structure and soundness go hand in hand. Yorkies are not bred to resemble Whippets. The rest of their form is not balanced to carry a rounded back built for sprinting. The original purpose of the terrier needs to be apparent in the correct structure of the dog. The proportions of the body are in balance with each other when a level topline is present. The movement of a well-balanced dog is a sight that delights the true breed fancier. A roached back yorkie does not move well and this off-balance CAN create other problems with various joints because of pressures placed on knees, hips, etc..

I agree with a medium length muzzle.. I have seen both in the ring and a medium length muzzle is just as beautiful as a so-called babydoll face.. JMO.. Melanie
