Puppygirl...I'll try to explain what I have seen...in your previous posts about roached backs, you asked questions, yes but the tone of your words led ME to believe that there was more to it than you were letting on. I am not a breeder, and I know basically nothing about breeding, but I just wanted to post and say that Toby is a great looking Yorkie! He is very handsome and I'm sure his puppies would be gorgeous as well!

TXSHOPPER unless you actually seen me post this, give it up! Because I did NOT post it!!! Kathy has a problem with me and just wants to cause more problems..

I never posted that Puppygirl (whoever she may be) had a website and was a breeder.. I felt bad for the way she was being attacked by some of the other post.. None of us are perfect and we are here to learn and share, NOT to get attacked for our comments, especially ones we did NOT make!

Since you freely admit to knowing nothing about breeding, why would you make a judgement on whether or not Toby would produce gorgeous puppies?
It's one thing to be nice and compliment someone on the pet they love, but this would be like me giving someone advice on the stock market. I could tell them that I admired the leather portfolio they carried, but wouldn't have the slightest idea about what was involved with the contents of it.
Those of us who do this, take it very seriously since we understand the ramifications involved with making poor choices and bear the weight of responsibility for our actions. I don't give advice lightly and although I respect your right to have an opinion, you may want to consider the implications of expressing it in this manner. If you're sure he will have gorgeous pups then you should be evaluating litters for the rest of us too?
I don't mean to sound harsh here, please understand it is just hard to see glib postings on a subject that many of us have devoted years to doing to the best of our ability. jmo

I understand when we see cute pups its hard to say no to anything ....take the breeders side of what you said in consideration for one minute.

Lets say "tobys human" decided to stud him because he has an adorable face, the bitch has pups, all the kids have roach backs...NOW YOU AS THE BUYER...if you are not educated what a quality yorkie should look like, you buy a pup, as it grows you notice the curve in the back, then as he ages further you notice a leg or hip problem what are you going to do....BLAME THE BREEDER, trash the breeder, never recommend the breeder...breeding is as good as our reputation, keep a breeding program clean, keeps a reputation clear of gossip and blame.

It's a vicious circle that can be avoided if all breeders adhere to a strict standard.

This is a GREAT way to look at it and very true - people DO blame the breeder... and from what I've learned and I'm NOT a breeder - a roach back becomes noticeable only after the puppy starts growing into adulthood right ?

The answers on this thread are informative - Toby's Human did say 'don't hold back' and 'be honest' and I think is getting very honest opinions here from people who do know their stuff.

It's tough for breeders to see so many posts like yours and not get irritated for the reasons I stated in mine. Please don't be offended, I didn't mean to single you out.

Your irritation is unwarranted in my opinion. She stated she wasn't a breeder but she appreciated the beauty in the dog. A dog does not have to be show ring material to be beautiful to most.

Someone on here actually posted that a member's dog was the "ugliest yorkie" she had ever seen (and the owner was not soliciting an analysis of his appearance at the time). That was the rudest thing I had ever heard on here to date. Most of us think ALL yorkies are the cutest dogs and we don't care that breeders are constantly critiquing appearance and complaining about pet breeders ruining the standard.

The fact is that there are far more companion yorkie fanciers than there are show yorkie owners and while I appreciate what some breeders do to preserve the standard to a certain extent, this type of arrogance where we get attacked if we call someone's dog gorgeous is inexcusable in my opinion.

Most of the people on this Board have dogs way outside the "standard" and they are all gorgeous!!!!!

She wouldn't need cheering up if you all hadn't jumped all over her for her legitimate posts. Shame on you. (By you I mean everyone that jumped her unjustly, not just Kimberley.)You keep turning 'em away right and left. Can't you just be nice?

You all accused her of being dishonest publicly and the apology needs to be public as well in my humble opinion.

These new breeders have a lot to offer and I know how competitive some of you are, but the rest of us would like to hear other opinions sometimes.
