In the end you have to live with whatever you decide to do when it comes to breeding your male.. Always remember there is NO perfect yorkshire terrier, alot of people would like to think they have one, but NO one does! When I first started into breeding my male was far from perfect! But he did not have any genetic health issues and did come from descent lines.. Do I still have him no, he is neutered and in a wonderful pet home.. I feel my program has come along way in the last two years, but everytime someone breeds (rather for show or for strictly pet puppies) you want to better what you have with each and every breeding.. I also agree that he has an adorable face.. One you just want to give a BIG kiss to! I wish you luck in your decision..Melanie

PuppyGirl- time to come clean and share your website with the rest of us. Shyyorkie has indicated that you have a website and are a experienced breeder. Now you weren't playing games mind games with us - were you? cause that would not be nice. We all have to be nice when we come out and play. We must all learn to play well with others.

This is how I was told to evaulate candidates for breeding/show; the 3 fault rule. If your Yorkie has more than 3 faults then they should not be bred--PERIOD!! The objective when breeding is to IMPROVE..the more faults you breed, the farther back and teh longer it will take to improve. This can be tricky, some people pick and chose between which faults and end up with more than 3 because they are not life threatening. My vet also mentioned some should not be bred (underbites, LP, LS, LCP, roached, open fonts, etc..) at all. Although some 'cosmetic' faults are easier to breed out than others, knowing what not to breed is important! For example an underbite is almost impossible to correct. He strongly advises me NOT to breed something with an underbite even if that's the only fault because it's not easily corrected. The roached back is equivielent to the underbite; not easy to correct in 'your lines'. Now, high in the rear, bigger ears, color, etc..can be corrected ONLY if you know exactly what the parents look like, what's behind them and their parents. If you are willing to be disciplined and not compromise the facts, then you are serious about improving the quality ('you' is just a general statement). Irene

I agree with you 100%!! You are exactly right.. When I decide to keep, place or buy a yorkie I look at them and if there are three things that I cannot live with, they are not staying (will be placed in a loving pet home only) or coming to my home.. That does NOT even bring into it the genetic problems like LP, overbites, bad backs, etc.. Melanie | |

Why can't people just come here and be themselves? Why must they hide behind who they really are?

It is truly sad that we all cannot just get along and help one another.. Instead of people thinking someone is going to get one foot in front of their's.. Can you imagine how much better off the yorkie breed would be if we all worked together instead of against each other? Boy I sure can!!Melanie
