Here's a good example of a vet not preparing a newbie for the whelping process. Although, x-rays were performed, the vet told this girl all she needed was dentifloss and scissors. Never giving her any other information.

This why studying is always necessary and most of all a great mentor that is well versed in the breed you have chosen.

some vets just don't know all that is necessary to whelp tiny dogs. They don't do it on a regular basis so its not something they think about all the time. This is why a mentor is needed to show you the correct way to do things.

That IS all you need.....to cut the cords. Too bad there's a bit more to it than that. Seeing a vet advise someone so poorly like this is the reason why I often want to strangle people when I see statements along the line of "well, the VET said, so it should be OK."
