The more you stay around here and research responsible breeding the more you will cherish your pups, when I first started learning about breeding ( I AM NOT A BREEDER AND HAVE NEVER BREAD A NY ANIMAL) it was all like a foreign language to me. Now I know a little, but enough to know the difference between right and wrong. We are all here because we have yorkies in common.

| There's been many a time when one of mine has needed medical care, food or something that I just didn't have the money for right then. Instead of denying them what they needed, I did without. These pups did not ask to come live with me - I chose them, and when I did so I assumed the responsibility of making sure they got the best care possible. The thought of someone making money to pay their bills off of innocent pups, risking their health, safety and even lives just to make a buck, DISGUSTS me. These babies look to us to protect them. If we don't, who will?

| Never mind. I'd probably get banned for my thoughts right now. I'm sure you have the gist of them, though.

| I don't know if I can agree that aggression between females is 100% genetic. The two girls I have that fight are both females that I bought from others and not raised by me. They are perfectly sweet little girls and have never had a problem with humans or with any other dogs. They just hate each other. I have had no problems with aggression with any of their offspring (dogs that have been raised in my home). I mentioned in an earlier post that their daughters will back up the mom in a fight, they are not really getting into it, just sort of dance around looking like if they were going to get into the fight they would stick up for their own mother. My opinion is that although some personality problems are genetic, a lot of personality problems are based in poor socialization. Just my opinion as I have been pleased to have both of these girls in my breeding program, they were excellent mothers, they are excellent with pups including each others, and they have given me excellent babies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You do know that the "problem girl" was an abused, malnourished, frightened one year old when Motherhen got her, and she bred her right away? And bred her again as soon as she could? These are her words - read her other posts in this thread and see for yourself. This doesn't concern you at all? You're actually willing to place your innocent pups in this kind of environment? And why is she being the one to be rehomed? Hasn't she suffered enough already? Just spay the girls and let them live in peace.

| I'm no expert on psychology, be it human or canine. I do know, however, that temperament is an inherited trait and is just as vital as health and conformation when breeding. I believe that dogs, like people, likely have thoughts that would shame the devil but most of us have an internal mechanism that prevents us from acting on them. In this case, the female seems to have no brakes at all in controlling her behavior. I'm sure she may be a nice dog in many respects, but then the same could be said for a serial killer. When they get caught, there's always someone who is shocked...as in "oh, he was always so nice to me". The point being that bad behavior isn't expressed 24/7 but some things just can't be allowed. Killing pups would fall into that category. I think the OP's own posts show there's a lack of control in their house and that makes a bad situation worse. The girl (Calypso) may have issues but what has already happened was needless, issues or not. Whatever someone's motivations are for breeding, responsibilities do come with it.....first among them being the health and safety of the dogs and pups. I would urge the OP to take a long hard look at what they are doing and why. Yours is a tragic example of thinking that breeding is easy and that things will take care of themselves. You have dead puppies to prove otherwise. |

| Interesting indeed. Complain about another member while engaging in the same behaviors. Guess this thread has worn itself out and is going to get worse. Might ask your colleague to have it closed.
