This post seems nice but it really tells that you like to hear yourself talk, and have low respect for the many professionals who have worked hard to better this breed. I can't understand why you or others, who covet the Yorkie are so appauled to what the standards have been for many years.

So you don't agree with the show dog look, or the standard YTCA rules. Then just move on and try to learn about raising a healthy puppy. You love your puppy, others love theirs with a docked tail.

Docking a tail is not abuse. You might not like the idea or may think it's barbaric BUT it's not abuse. You made a comment in one of your post about why would anyone purchase a dog. That is not rocket science to figure out.

If you have so much passion for abused animals you should focus on abuse, instead of your disgust for Yorkshire Terrier owners/breeders who love the YTCA standard. There are numerous orgs out there that need your help...especially in the puppymill world. You stated someone "exude a seasoned air from a position of superiority" That comment shows you have a lot to learn.

I don't have time to follow these threads every day, but I think I saw someone post on one of these tail docking ones that they know how to do it painlessly while the puppies sleep. I sure wish they would repeat the instructions for that because I need help badly. Sunday evening I was doing tails and dew claws for a 4 day old litter and they were so vocal in their objections that I stopped after the 2nd one, just couldn't stand it any more. Sometimes I skip doing it on an entire litter, some days just don't have the heart to try, and I have so many European dogs with their full tails in my kennel that nothing looks out of place to me. Anyway, if the expert who knows the proper painless procedure could step forward with instructions I would be very grateful. Thank You.

I believe that might have been my comment you were referring to. I had stated that in the last litter, 3 of the 4 pretty much slept though it, not a peep. The 4th cried from the time I took him out of the carrier to the time I put him back in. I didn't actually do it, my vet did. I thing the difference was she put a numbing gel on first. I dunno. I really wished I had taped it at the time...but I never knew I would even have a need for it for the viewing purposes of others.

I might add that all the remarks against tail docking has me wondering about whether you who are against docking worry so much about the pain a dog goes through when they are spayed or neutered. OOPS!!! Should I not have mentioned that Oh, but that is for a good reason...right

Perhaps that is one of the reasons for so many unhealthy and unwanted dogs in this country. Because of people who believe that spaying or neutering is abuse too

I've bred Yorkies and I have taken litters over the years to have their tails docked. It was required for them to be Kennel club registered in England. It's horrible, they squeal and bleed. I'm very pleased it was banned over there. I did in fact stop taking my puppies well before the ban started because. Imo it is very unnecessary.
