Now, we just need to work out this neighbor/puppy thing. It might work out okay, b/c we plan on keeping the girl, and my neighbor really wanted the girl. She hinted that she might not be interested in the boy, until her dh changed his mind. If she takes the money, she can get the girl she wants. She just needs to get this across to her husband. She settled for the boy she has now, and if she keeps ours, she will never get the girl she wants. So, I can only hope it works out for everyone. Last edited by tammys; 07-15-2009 at 07:02 PM.

| I would not have known Sadie was in heat at the beginning if I did not have a male dog. When he started getting way too interested in her hind parts, I would check and see she was swollen, but she was extra clean too. So, I can understand how a person can miss early heat. Just have to make sure unspayed females are always supervised. Assume they will get pregnant if they are unspayed. I know you already learned that lesson, but good for others to hear too. Best of luck reasoning with the daddy dog's family. Very difficult to tell people you know they really should not have a yorkie puppy (especially since they already have one!). But you have to do what is best for those little ones.

| I am glad you brought this up for many opinions!!!! I had to laugh shortly after our chat I am told by one of my coworkers who is buying one of Bella's pups that her son has just brought home a 6 week old pit bull puppy. YIKES!!!!! I personally am not the least bit afraid of pit bulls BUT I am not allowing my pup to go to her home and die. I will tell her when I see her that I am really sorry but I can not sell her my pup for the safety of the pup!!! This will be an uncomfortable situation for me because this lady's family employes my son. I would worry day in and day out that my pup will be "accidentally" killed so I am sorry but no deal!

Me too! I felt what was right, but it helps to get more opinions. I know how you feel! I would be uneasy about that too. Good luck!

| I talked to my co-worker this am about the fact I am not willing to sell the pup to her because of the pit bull puppy and me worrying my pup will be accidentally killed. She was very understanding and even said that she herself was worried. So I guess I have a pup for sale again but at least he will be alive!!!

You never know how someone will react when you tell they're not going to get the pup. Sounds like it went well! Even if her pup is very sweet and gentle, something could have happened by accident. I'm glad she understood where you were coming from.

| Is there just 2 pups? If you are keeping the female, then maybe you could give her back her money, and then give her the money from the sale of the male pup.. less 1/2 of the expenses. |

My dh has told that dh several times that the dogs get out b/c the gate is opened, or b/c their front door is left opened, but nothing has changed. He feels he can control his dogs - in the mean time, I have two puppies and lots of other dogs' poop in my front yard that prove otherwise! Regardless of what we say, nothing will change over there. She told me a few weeks ago that she didn't want to hurt my feelings by not taking the boy. Knowing this and the fact that her dh called them little rats and has never been thrilled about getting another one, I put myself in the frame of mind that she didn't want him. Last week I told her we were going to keep him, b/c we are in love with him, and she was disappointed, but okay with it. The she called back and said her dh wanted him. Since I can't tell her the real reasons we don't want her to have one, the only thing I can say, is that we love him, and don't want to give him up. That would not be a lie, but if he were going to a safe home two doors down, I would have to live with it. So, the way it stands now, we will keep both. What a soap opera!

| I guess what I meant was, tell her you want the girl.. And you know she doesn't want the boy. Tell her that since she doesn't want the male, you will give her the money back she has given you, and then sell the male to a good home... You will deduct 1/2 of the expenses and then give her the balance from the sale of the male to purchase the female she wants.. she may just go buy something else with the money and not get another Yorkie at all.. No feelings hurt and she gets a little extra money for NOT taking the male... |

Yea, but after she said she might not want him, her dh said he did. He complained about getting a puppy during the pregnancy, and then all of the sudden he decided he wanted him. She really wants a girl, and I think her dh is saying he wants the boy, b/c he thinks it will be cheaper to pay me half the expenses, and get the boy; as opposed to going out and finding a girl on his own. I think this is a struggle for her b/c the pups are half her dog's, and half my dog's. She loves my girl (the mama), and would love to have a baby that is from both of them. I have all the receipts, and I think they will be surprised how things have added up, so hopefully, that will be the deciding factor.

| It was hard to start the conversation but I certainly could not knowingly send my precious little puppy to his death!!! I am not worried about selling him but more I am wanting to find him a good match! I luckily have a rather large back up list for the pups. I am sooo attatched to them all

| That's exactly what I was afraid of his pit bulls are bigger and more aggressive and while playing he may not know his own strength and accidentally kill my pup. I think she was deep down worried about the same thing because she seemed relieved when I said I didnt want to sell him to her because of the pit bull. Thank goodness!
