My dh asolutely does not want me to tell them the reasons I don't want them to have the puppy, b/c they would be insulted and it would hurt our friendship. My dh has told that dh several times that the dogs get out b/c the gate is opened, or b/c their front door is left opened, but nothing has changed. He feels he can control his dogs - in the mean time, I have two puppies and lots of other dogs' poop in my front yard that prove otherwise! Regardless of what we say, nothing will change over there. She told me a few weeks ago that she didn't want to hurt my feelings by not taking the boy. Knowing this and the fact that her dh called them little rats and has never been thrilled about getting another one, I put myself in the frame of mind that she didn't want him. Last week I told her we were going to keep him, b/c we are in love with him, and she was disappointed, but okay with it. The she called back and said her dh wanted him. Since I can't tell her the real reasons we don't want her to have one, the only thing I can say, is that we love him, and don't want to give him up. That would not be a lie, but if he were going to a safe home two doors down, I would have to live with it. So, the way it stands now, we will keep both. What a soap opera! |
