I would not have known Sadie was in heat at the beginning if I did not have a male dog. When he started getting way too interested in her hind parts, I would check and see she was swollen, but she was extra clean too. So, I can understand how a person can miss early heat. Just have to make sure unspayed females are always supervised. Assume they will get pregnant if they are unspayed. I know you already learned that lesson, but good for others to hear too.
Best of luck reasoning with the daddy dog's family. Very difficult to tell people you know they really should not have a yorkie puppy (especially since they already have one!). But you have to do what is best for those little ones. |
