| Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I dont think this will effect all breeder's, I think when people go see puppies they will know what to look for. If your place look's even slightly like that then you have a problem & you SHOULD be shut down. All you Good Breeder's (show or not) dont have to worry you will get smarter better Educated people That will Now know about good breeder's. & i think lot's more dog's will be adopted Which is awesome. Some people will Alway's want purebred dog's & they'll come to you for that instead of a petstore or puppymill. |

I like the idea of mandatory spay/neuter laws but I don't know if they are going about it quite right. I think it will help to stop backyard breeders..the ones that just want to breed their pets. But I don't want to see reputable breeders hurt in the process...and it still won't stop the large puppymills. So they need to do more than mandatory spay/neuter laws. They need to make commercial breeding and selling in petstores illegal

| Although I am Happy She will expose the Mills and were petstore puppies come from. Maybe she needs to have another show on the terrible things PETA is doing to shelter animals UPDATE: PETA Killed Over 97 Percent of the Animals in its Care in 2006 2,981. That’s how many dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and other "companion animals" died needlessly at PETA's hands in 2006. According to the group's own records, PETA employees killed more than 97 percent of the flesh-and-blood creatures in their care that year. And other things they do... Do you know how many people I talk to that have NO IDEA there are even Mills out there? |

| I think we all just need to watch the show tomorrow (I may not get to see it until late tomorrow night online)...we can say what if what if what if all we want...but let's watch it first. There is not much point in arguing about something when it hasn't even aired yet. So let's just wait and see. Again, I'm excited she'll be exposing the horrers of puppymills and petstore puppies. I really hope it educates the public and helps to end dogs' suffering. I also hope more people do adopt from shelters because of this show. I'd also like to see the backyard breeders put out of business. I do hope she doesn't come off as in all breeders are bad because I know there are reputable breeders out there...not many in my opinion, but there are some. But hopefully it will be balanced...we'll just have to wait and see

| I do believe that it is Lisa Ling that did the investigating and reporting. She's the one that made the statement that she's a changed woman now and will only buy from a shelter. I watched a show years ago about Opray getting a new Cocker puppy. She went through the whole thing of showing them going to the ladies house, etc. I honestly was appalled that Oprah bought from her. It looked like a backyard breeder to me. I don't know the breeder or anything else, just what I saw on the show. I truly was shocked that Oprah even went there.

| No matter what the subject is there is always going to be controversy over it. I think she is doing a great justice in showing this show regarding Puppy Mills. People need to be aware where those adorable dogs and cats come from that are in Pet Stores. They need to be exposed for what they are. Animal tortore chambers! I do not at all believe it will, in any way, do damage to a responsible breeder. Come on, get real. It has to start somewhere exposing these horrible people who breed for $$$ and not caring about the suffering the adult dogs and cats go through breeding at every heat. Thank heavens for Oprah. Thousands of people will be viewing this show this evening exposing these SOB's for what they really are. That's the important thing that should and will come out of this show. I, for one, will NOT be watching. I can't handle anything like this. I am aware of these things and will do whatever I can to help but view it, I can't. I will pray that this show makes an impact on this practice and really hurts them in their pockets. Maybe even pet-stores will stop buying them when they realize where their merchandise comes from. God willing something wonderful will come out of this show. Last edited by ARCHIE; 04-04-2008 at 06:04 AM. |

| I agree that we all have different views on what a responsible breeder is. But I would hope that we all can agree that petstore pups do not come from them. So even if this show gets across to not buy from them, I think thats great ! I think thats a huge key in putting many mills out of business. When I went to the MN airport one time, there were at least 60 kennel of pups lined up waiting to get on a plane to be shipped to petstores all over the country. I went and looked at each kennel to see for myself and they all were just from 2 breeders and enery last one going to pet stores. This guy was unloading pups from his huge van and he gave me a dirty look because I must of had this horrific look on my face. I shot him a look back , like you SOB, but I didn't say anything cause I would have ended up going to jail after I was through. I think it would be kind of a catch 22 for AKC to be on the show. Some mills are AKC. AS far as I know AKC does not have a limit of how many dogs you can own. Yes, your place has to be clean , and your paperwork in order, but you can still own 100 dogs as far as I know. Correct me if I am wrong. |

| There are more people than we care to imagine who have no idea that Puppy Mills even exist. These are the same people who think nothing of purchasing from a pet store, because they have no point of reference. These are the individuals and families I hope will be impacted first. It is a first step in the process of eliminating them all together and it has to begin somewhere. Oprah has a huge fan base with millions of viewers and logically it makes sense to air this here. I will be watching and I know that I will have boxes of kleenex close by and I know that my heart will be broken ..... once again. It will be an extremely painful thing to witness, but again ..... not nearly as painful as what these poor dogs endure on a daily basis. My hope is that everyone who sees this will be so disgusted and hurt, and God willing, that will lead to these same individuals to subsequently educate themselves before their next purchase. The solution has to begin somewhere ... hopefully this will be it. |
