| I don't watch Oprah, but I will be watching today.... I don't think anyone should rush to conclusions about the show until we have a chance to watch it, but I just read this on Oprah.com "Bill says many breeders call him to see if he wants to pick up unwanted dogs. "We form relationships with some of these people, and they're actually the good breeders because they give us the dogs," he says. "A number of times they'll call us and give us 45 minutes to an hour to come out and pick up a dog before they shoot it when they no longer want it. It's always amazing to me when I go out to pick up a dog, they've had the dog eight or nine years and it doesn't have a name. It's never been out of the hutch. It doesn't know how to walk. I have to carry it to the car. It's heartbreaking." Are you kidding me?? These puppymillers who are going to KILL their dogs if he doesn't get there asap are the GOOD ONES????? Am I in the twilight zone? |

| I have to agree that this show will more than likely do much more good than harm! Everytime I have had the opportunity to give a speech in my classes I always discuss PuppyMills...and the shock and disbelief of people who had no idea is overwhelming!!!!! I have done this speech at least 4 times and only once was there an individual present that was aware of the truth about petstore puppies and what a puppymill really is. Just a couple hours from now and we get to watch the show! I enjoyed this article on oprah.com http://www2.oprah.com/tows/pastshows...080404_d.jhtml As I agree with this 100%!!!I would never support PETA...when I was a young teenager I used to think they were great...I was all for any animal rights groups...but we all grow up and learn! If you are a supporter of PETA I really encourage you to do some research into their beliefs...here is another article I stumbled over today online! http://www.petsready.com/peta-killed...dacs-a-36.html ![]() I think the next show Oprah should do is..."The Truth About PETA!"

| I just watched the show and thought they did a pretty good job. The only other thing I wish they would have touched on is the that these puppy mills end up selling sick puppies because of their breeding practices (or lack of it). I wish they would have mentioned that responsible breeders check their bitches and studs for disease and congenital defects and don't breed ones that have any. Also, they didn't mention how many are being brought in from other countries - like Mexico - and sold out of the trunks of cars!!! Or the trauma that these puppies go through leaving their Mom's too early, traveling from the puppy mill breeders to puppy millers like The Hunte Corp and then on to Petland!!!! I cried and continue to cry for all of these animals...

| I think he was being sarcastic - but at the same time he was saying that at least they call him before they kill them. Others wouldn't even let them come in. Remember, these people think of these dogs/cats as commodity - just an income - like cattle. They do not think of these animals as loving, child-like pets. They simply do not feel the same way we do. He was Thankful that these few DO call him. Believe me, he didn't look or sound like he thought these people were 'good' or he wouldn't be rescuing them all of these animals. I think he meant the least evil.

| yes it is mostly the Amish. Also many people especially in Wester PA just tie the dogs out 24/7 and do not see anything wrong with that either. My heart hurts to a point where I hate it when we travel to that area. They treat them like livestock but even some cows have it better then these dogs.

| I just watched the show and felt it was will done. It wasnt negative toward breeders at all. I thought it was good to bring awareness to more people

| I just finished watching and I am too emotional to even put a rational thought together, but I do have to say that I hope everyone was moved enough to take some sort of action. Even the smallest deed in the name of these dogs is appreciated and will make a difference. Remember, all it takes is one person to suggest adoption from a shelter vs a Petstore... to save a life. |

| I did not get to watch the entire show, but from what I saw it was tastefully done. Unless I missed something when I wasn't watching, I felt the AKC could have said more to promote responsible breeders other than just two sentences on the subject. That was a little disappointing.... |

| I was wrong about that comment being made by Lisa Ling. It was made by Oprah. Regardless, I thought that they did a good show. There were a few things that I felt like they could have more obvious though. Such as making it known that it needs to start with good breeding practices from all breeders, not just puppy mills. They did stress that as Americans, it is our fault that there is such an over population of animals and that is because they are not spayed and neutered as they should be. If all breeders spayed or neutered before the puppies left, then spaying and neutering wouldn't be an issue.

| I cried thru this whole show And when they euthanized the dogs it just tore me up. I think more people will now look for reputable breeders Stop buying from petshops and auctions. That they come from puppy mills. I can tell you one thing. I dont live far from the largest amount of Amish. I always thought they were clean , good ,religious people. Living Gods way I will never feel that way again

| What they were showing was Amish farms...over and over. I know what they wear and how their farms look. I always had the highest respect for Amish. And I have seen a couple real nice farms When I go down there to buy fresh produce in the summer to can. The farms I seen had a few dogs in nice runs They never keep them in their houses.I knew that But the ones I seen were clean. But nothing like this...it makes me sick If you see my other post...I no longer feel this way. I have no respect for them anymore
