No..I knew what you meant. I knew you meant that he ate 2 poops. Mine dined on one piece this morning, I got to the second one before they had a chance. At lunch I went home, the little guy poopied as usual (god he poops alot) and neither of them touched it! IDK....I just don't get it. I can only guess the morning poop is more tasty than the noon poop?

Aren't they the slickest little buggers, though. I swear they hold it until I am tied up for 5 mins. Cause that's when they'll go. I go looking to see what they are doing and low and behold....they are poop eating!

In my case, I do believe it's a behavioral issue.
Pineapple is not the only food that you can add to their diet to help with poop eating. You can also try spinach, pumpkin and kelp. The spinach and pumpkin can be added into their food. The Kelp is an herbal supplement and my suggestion would be to talk to a holistic vet.

Since I have somehow become the Poop Guru I have been doing a lot of research about how to stop the poop eating. Like Nancy said it all comes down to changing the digestive enzymes in their intestinal tract. It's not an immediate fix and you do need to be dedicated to the task.

If you are going to try sweet potatoes I would buy the organic canned. Pumpkin would be pure packed pumpkin. I would think that you could even mix it up a little and give pineapple as a treat and mix the others into their food.

Max left his poop on the floor this morning! He didn't even sniff it. I'm also finding that when he poops outside on the grass, he has no interest in eating it. It's only in the house.

Also, no more pineapple for Cooper. He can't seem to digest it and vomited it

Yeah, my biggest poop eating offender has vomited twice after eating the pineapple. I am back to meat tenderizer and sweet potato. My local Pet Value started carrying a brand of treats called "Gracies Garden" and what it is is 100% dried fruit or vegetable. My store carries apple slices, carrot, sweet potato, and banana. It is 100%. Not like at the grocery store where sugar and what not is added. Mine have already been enjoying the apple slices and the carrots. Now I picked up the sweet potato too. I will give it much more time to see if it works. In the meantime my offender #2 loves the pineapple so I'll keep giving it as a treat.

What I like about the pineapple or for that fact the other fruit/veggies is that the quantity can be easily adjusted. I would worry about giving too much MSG to my dog if he was a poop eater. I say stick with the snacks that are natural.

wow just bought a small frozen bag for $3.99

Max is still eating his poop. He's not inhaling it and he's eating it much slower, but he's eating it. We will keep working on it.

UGH! This is painfully slow, isn't it? Well, I think my one that WILL eat the pineapple is beginning to let the poop alone. But my other one who WILL NOT eat the pineapple.... This morning first thing he did was go poopy and walked away. GOOD BOY, right? Well, after breakfast he apparently had a bit more left in him because I went into another room for 1 min. and came back. And he's licking his lips. I could still smell poopy in the air but I'll be darn if I could find it ANYWHERE! I could only assume he ate it.

OMG Max does the same thing. He'll poop a tiny bit and then I clean it. When I'm disposing of the mess i come back and find him eating the rest!

It's slow, but let's keep working at it. Try one of the other method than the pineapple with the other dog. I've also found that if Max goes potty outside in the grass he leaves it alone. I'm not sure which will be faster - non poop eating or potty trained.

Yep, I need to ask megansmomma how much sweet potatoe to try instead. He just won't eat the pineapple and when he does he throws up.

I was taking him out to go poopy, at least at my lunch break. He's too quick to catch for first thing in the morning. As soon as his little paws hit the floor, he must GO!

Anyway, when I started taking him outside (and I had this problem a few months ago) he seems to have trouble using the pee pads in the house.

I think it's because outside he can go wherever he wants. So then that's the attitude he takes when inside. He seems to not be able to differentiate between the two.

Although like Max, he'd leave the poopy alone if it was outside, I can't afford for him to not use the pee pads inside my home.

I think I would try to the packed pumpkin. It's cheaper than sweet potato and you can buy it at the grocery store in the baking aisle. It would be with the canned pie fillings. I use to give it to all 3 of mine when Doodlebug was a puppy for his tummy. He would throw up all the time and the pumpkin really worked. I'm going to guess on this since I never used it for poop eating.

The way the I gave it to mine was adding it directly to their food with a little warm water to make a thick gravy. I would take all the kibble that I was feeding then and put it into a bowl with about 3 tablespoons of pumpkin and run the water until it was hot and then slowly add a little water at a time until the pumpkin became consistent with gravy. Then I would divide the food into their bowls. They really loved it too and it didn't change the firmness of their poop either.

Karen I would suggest that you could try this with Cooper too since he is having a pineapple problem.

But remember you need to be consistent with this too and feed at each meal for it to work. You can still feed the pineapple since none of this will hurt them and only add more of the ingredients that make the poop taste bad.

Keep it up! You guys are doing great and it will work!

Okey doke, thanks! I keep Pumpkin on hand all the time. I use it for loose stools or constipation. Although I do have to ask (COS). My grocery store hasn't had the Libby's Pure Pumpkin on their shelves for a few months. Was there a recall?

I don't think there was a recall but there was a shortage earlier this year. Maybe that is the reason?
