Also - should the spinach help firm up Coop's poop? It's somewhat firm but he could use a little assistance.

Our dogs have firm stools. Well, Daisys are mushier because of the IBD. My boys are on brown rice diets. If you're feeding grains, I find that it is mushier than rice.

First, we need to make sure that we are talking about the same size pieces. I always suggest using pineapple CHUNKS for a standard size. So when I say pieces I am talking about a chunk.

My suggestion would be to feed 2 pieces twice a day between meals like a snack. You can adjust the amount until you see the desired response. Go back through this thread and read my posts to get a really good handle on what to look for, how long to wait, when to increase and when to level off the amount.

When we were doing the pineapple, I bought frozen bags of "pineapple tidbits" from Trader Joes and they were perfect sized - like 1/2 chunks. I just took a bunch of pieces out and kept them thawed in the fridge. The bigger frozen chunks made me nervous for choking hazard.

The reason that I said chunks was earlier in the thread one person was feeding chunks, one tidbits, one crushed. So it made things more confusing as to how much they were actually feeding.

Love Trader Joe's

Today is day 2 of the baby spinach routine and the boys love it! I've never seen Cooper enjoy his food so much. He usually eats very slowly, walking piece by piece to the carpet while staring out the window. Now he eats at a regular pace. I'm crossing my fingers this will work for Max. Should it take about 2 weeks to see a change?

Coop's poop: peanut butter could be softening his stools. My boys can't have pb because the tiniest bit gives them diarrhea.

It's not funny
Cooper very rarely eats peanut butter. I tried it with the spinach but soon realized he loves spinach. Sometimes I'll put a tiny bit of peanut butter on the end of a bully if I need him to sit quietly somewhere.

In Teddy's case, feeding spinach to all three results in immediate cessation of crap consumption. However, please note that Teddy will relapse if I fail to include spinach in all three. Last night was one such relapse. The boy is an addict.

Not my fault that you came up with a funny club name.

Whenever I see this topic, I think of your description of the Poop Catching Olympics where you and Victoria race to catch and discard poop before it becomes a meal.

All of this talk of spinach is making me hungry. I love spinach.

Start a clinic for poop addicts like the Betty Ford Clinic. The T. Bumpkins Center.

I slipped in the mud in the backyard trying to prevent Max from eating his poop. Needless to say he's still enjoying it, but we'll be patient.

It gets much, much worse. Max enjoys some Coop poop so we have to stand behind Cooper outside and wait for him to go. Max and I race to clean it up. While I can joke about it, it really is horrific and we need help.

I am going to the store tomorrow and buy lots of Frozen pineapple chunks hoping Hobbes will quit eating poop. He has Calvin wanting to do it now. The girls Tessie and Sassy think it is too disgusting.

First thing that I want to say is don't try to figure out why he is eating his poop since most of the time it really is a mystery that cannot be solved. We can just fix it!

There has not been one dog that continued to eat their poop if you follow my instructions. Hardcore puppy mill rescues have stopped eating their poop with pineapple. Maria was a mill rescue who would spin while pooping and eat it before it would touch the ground and with time and pineapple she eventually stopped. But it took a while~it is not immediate.

Anyone that tells you that pineapple did not work was not either feeding enough, feeding a long enough time or was not consistent. In order for the pineapple to work its magic the digestive enzymes need to change in their intestines. This will take several days until he is no longer pooping warm loaves that he likes to snack on.

When Max poops and tries to eat it don't freak out. This will cause him to think he needs to eat the poop because of your reaction. Once you start to pineapple regiment you will see improvement. But you NEED to follow exactly how I am instructing you.

You need to purchase CHUNK PINEAPPLE~not crushed or tidbits. This is important so that you are talking about the same SIZE pieces.

Start by feeding 1 or 2 pieces of pineapple (Cooper can have it too) as a snack/treat between meals for a total of 3 to 4 pieces per day. Making sure that you give at least 3 pieces total per day. It will take several days for you to actually see Max begin to not want to eat his poop. The contents of the digestive tract needs to be pooped out and then replaced with pineapple poop.

After a few days you will notice that if he does pick up a piece of poop he will not try to woof it done. He might pick it up or even play with it but he should not eat it.

If he does continue to show interest then increase the pineapple by 1 or 2 pieces. Continue to watch him and pick up any poop immediately. Do not react other than to tell him to drop it.

I promise you that if you are consistent and feed him the pineapple EVERY day he will stop.

Let me also add that it is not unusual for a poop eating pup to pick up the pineapple poop and try hiding it once they decide it is no longer palatable. Why they do this I don't have a clue but eventually they will stop this too.

Check back here and let me know how it is going. But this will get you started to a nonpoop eating pup.

Will I need to feed the pineapple chuncks forever or until Izzy stops? She only eats Henrys poop not hers so feed both of them or just him?

You need to feed Henry to get Izzy to not eat his poop. I would also give pineapple to Izzy so that she gets a treat too. Most time if you break the habit you can eventually stop with the pineapple. But that could be a while before you come to that point. For now just give them both a couple of pieces a day between meals. If the pineapple does't work there are other foods that you could try too. If you have questions PM. That way I will be sure to see it. Let me know how they are both doing in a couple of days and we can adjust from there.
