| I understand what you mean. The way I look at it is even though they aren't the standard colors they still came from Yorkshire Terriers...other than the white and an undocked tail, mine looks and acts just like a yorkie...so that makes them yorkies in my eyes. But mine is just a pet, if I was showing or doing my best to breed Yorkshire Terriers that fit the standard, I might very well feel the same as you. Quote:

Although they originated from Yorkies, they have a standard now, which is how a new breed is developed. When breeding the TRUE Biewer you will primarily produce pups marked by the standard. I have always considered them a separate breed from Yorkies. As they do in Germany. I have see ads on puppyfind that mislead folks in sayign they are one and the same and they are NOT!!! Grrr! To be certain you have the True Biewer you must see the pedigree and the colors of the ancestors in writing. If you don't you run the risk of breeding something that is NOT..that's just my opinion. That's why I HATE to see folks buying Biewers from brokers let a lone for breeding. That's another topic..lolol. Hugs, Wini

You know that there were too many big names that did not want to stop showing and breeding their prize dogs, the glory meant more than the future of the breed. Makes it twice as hard for us now to try to make sure that we are breeding good stock. Broke my heart when I had to pull my girl out, but sure didn't want to pass it on and ruin someone elses life. I am glad I had found out BEFORE I bred her, because I was planning on breeding her the next heat when it all came out. Much smarter now. BTW, got any pups getting ready to into the ring yet. Yes that was a heartbreaker for sure. Sometimes I think I don't want to breed any more.....it's tough not knowing if the puppies will be affected. But alas....the struggle to see what will land in the whelp box usually wins. LOL Hey I got two boys I'm watching closely. One is just over a year....wonderful dark silk coat.....we still need length. And one about 7 months old....he is so pretty...I've already spayed/neutered his parents. They are living the good life now as much adored and loved couch potatoes. That's what I'm doing now! As soon as I have a "better" puppy I'm placing the parents.....breeding pets is just not appealing to me. <g> D

| Suz, I have very good examples of both that you mention. The piebald genes that produced Remi as a parti are the same genes that produce the tri/colors known as Biewers. That is a bit of over-simplification but it does answer your concern..Feel free to contact me if I can help with any further info along those lines... |

| Well, arn't biewers just a yorkie with a chosen historical gene pool. Like the colors bred to make the dog have the main black coat bred to bre white. It's all the breeding process. It would probably take like 10 generations to make a yorkie into a biewer.

| I have never even heard of Biewers and or Tri/parti Yorkies untill a few years ago and that was from the internet. Mickey and Minnies breeders have never heard of them either and when I asked each breeder about them They both say they are mixed breeds.I tried to tell them what each one looked like and they still said if they are not what the AKC standard colors Blue/ tan or Black /gold then theres no way they are Yorkies. I think if these breeders had a computer and was able to get on the internet they would then see for their selfs . I think they are very beautiful and look a lot like the Yorkies. I would love to have one some day. |
