| Our New Puppy I'm depressed. We got our new puppy today. My husband insisted on getting the first dog he saw. She could have had one eye, three legs and weighed 25 lbs and he would have gotten her. He had to have a puppy today!! She is 6 months old and weighs 3.2 lbs. But-------she is two dogs long and 1/2 a dog high. Her nose is real long and her hair looks so thin and scraggly. The lady we got her from had lots of little yorkies in the house and no other breeds and she came with AKC papers. So I'm sure she is a pure Yorkie. Most of her Yorkies were the longer bodied dogs. She does have a cute personality and loves everyone and seems to be real smart. But she isn't the kind of dog I wanted. We named her Pumpkin Spice, because we got her on Halloween. We will call her Punkin or Punky. I think Scarey Mary may have been a better name. I have to make myself keep thinking that now the hubby has a pup to love in place of his beloved Ruby. And think maybe she will grow into her body and at least she has a real cute personality. I guess I'll get used to her. |

Sometimes you just want what you want BUT Leo and I bonded instantly and even though I have my Yorkie that I wanted originally. I don't think anything could come close to what I have with Leo. He had a wonderful happy personality too that was just infectious...... he made some crappy days bearable for sure | |

| We have another Yorkie along with this one. The older one is beautiful and very sweet. The one we lost was beautiful too. She was small, but perfect. She had a little doll face, a little cobby body and such expressive eyes. My husband would have loved this one no matter what. He needed a puppy to fill the hole in his heart. Ruby had been his dog and he missed her in his lap. I'll have to get used to her. |

| My female yorkie recently passed away and we wanted to replace the hole in our hearts too. We decided to get a Maltese instead. My hubby said that any female yorkie we got, would never be as good as her, and he didn't want to compare her with the one that was the love of our lives. Im really really happy with my Maltese. She is so sweet and awesome. I hope you feel better soon with your new baby. Maybe your still grieving your Ruby, and having a hard time letting go |

| I know I'm still grieving for Ruby. She died Monday and I feel like it was my fault. I don't think I'll ever get over that feeling. When I handed her over to the veterinarian, she looked at me like "don't do this to me" but I went ahead and handed her over. She was a healthy dog and died from a dental. |

| Sweetie I understand. Mine was healthy too and died from the vet spaying her. The guilt will probably always be there but try to start healing and hopefully start loving your new baby. I know it's very hard |

| Sounds like your already in love with her personality... I'm sure that, in time, what you see as her shabby exterior will fade and you'll just see her for the sweet dog she is. You're still grieving and it sounds like comparing to what you had before. I wish you all the best. |

| It is so hard to get another dog after the death of a much loved one. I dont think that any dog with replace your beloved pet. You will always remember her and have a special place in your heart. But you will learn to love Pumpkin as much as your Ruby. They will be different in lots of ways and you will love her for those things and remember Ruby for the other things. So keep a chin up and just love your little pumpkin. (I love that name!! I call my Daisy that sometimes!!) Ps My Daisy has only one eye and I couldn't love her more.

| I understand compleatly about being dissapointed..when I was (yorkie shopping)we sort of done the same thing...but I knew my hubby would give up looking so we went ahead and took Riley,,and he too was (at the time) less then beautiful...and extreamly fearfull of people. but you can look at it this way,,,I did....It was after all the ugly duckling that turned into the beautiful SWAN!!!! she is not done growing by any means and she may (grow into her body) god brought you to her for a reason,,,she had to be the one you were ment to have...and I bet she turnes out beautiful with the proper care that youll give her.....just look on the bright side,,,,im sure she will turn into the love of your life.

| One thing in Pumpkin's favor is that she loves everyone and since we've had her, about 24 hrs, she has gone to the door and asked to be let out to go to the poop. She doesn't bark, but runs around in little circles. We call it her "happy dance". She does it when she gets excited. We gave her lots of praise. We've taken her out ever so often so she doesn't get a chance to have an accident, and she has indicated she wanted out more than once and peed. I think she is going to be real easy to potty train. We are crossing our fingers. The breeder did not tell us that she was potty trained so I'm assuming they hadn't been working on that. Maybe she picked it up from the other dogs. She seems to be very smart. |

| Aww I know how you feel. I felt the same way after we got Roxy. I think I went into a little post pardum depression after we got her. When we went to pick her up at the breeders she was the last one of the litter to go besides her sister which the breeder was keeping because she was show quality. When I first saw Roxy it definitly was't love at first site, I actually wanted her sister because she was fluffier and had a "nicer" face. Roxy wasn't combed nicely and she stunk of poop and even had little chunks of it matted in her. We took her home, gave her a bath the next day and that is when I fekll in love. She was a totally different dog! She was litereally the cutest thing I've ever seen. My husband still taunts me when I tell Roxy how much I love her, he will say Oh, but Roxy Mommy didn't want you, she wanted your sister. I feel so bad! I'm so glad we got Roxy abd not her sister, because so far Roxy has pretty much been a dream dog. She was potty trained at 2 weeks, loves to be around other people, she isn't afraid of anything and has such a great personality. Plus she is super smart! I think you ended up with her for a reason, and I'm sure you'll realize it soon enough! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I bet she will turn out to be very pretty. When I lost Dixie at 7 months to congenital kidney failure, the breeder offfered me a very similar male, short body and legs and the baby doll face, but I did not want a male so I took another female. When I went to pick her up she was very long legged and not the face I wanted but I took her anyway, Now at 13 months she has a very pretty face and her coat is long so you don't notice the long legs, her back is longer too. She is the most loving of all my babies. She really turned out much cuter that I thought. So give her some time. 6 months can be an awkward stage too.
