Looking for a breeder in AZ - perfect puppy :) Im in Phoenix and have been casually thinking about getting a Yorkie. Im a shampooer/groomer at a local pet resort and just fawn when the Yorkies come in I have a lot on my plate right now, planning a wedding, so not ready to take on a puppy for a few more months but late fall/early winter will begin my search Yahoo and google havent been helpful, was hoping the board may be more productive. Im looking for a small (perhaps teacup) yorkie. I'd mainly be interested in a spayed female from a litter of show puppies that didnt "make the cut" so that I would help support and promote the breed, but a good-quality, well-socialized puppy from a pet litter may be alright as well. Papers on a spayed female unimportant, I dont mind cutting them to help fray the cost. I'd like to get in touch with a breeder early so I can see some of their litters as they grow to get an idea of what my pup will look like. I am new to Yorkies, but thought one would be lovely for my personality, and I would really like to explore that with an experienced breeder/shower and learn more about the wonderful breed. Unfortunately, I cant justify paying more than $600 for a puppy no matter how nice they are but I can promise a loving home and can perhaps barter other services to lower the price. Please reply and we can work something out

| Man, if you can find a puppy in this area with the traits you desire for $600.00 I say HOOK ME UP SISTER! All joking aside a better way to get what you desire is to lay your wants to the side for the time being and to go out and visit some of the local breeders. Believe me it won't take you long to under- stand why the prices are what they are in this area when it comes to quality. Most breeders that are selling puppies with any reputation at all in their lines will also insist on a spay or neuter agreement and that does not justify a reduction in their pricing what so ever. Also in case you weren't aware a female is generally always going to cost more than a male. Not trying to offend I am just trying to be helpful. Best wishes in your search!

Hi I agree with rnnw62 It's hard to find those specifics for $600. I'm in Phoenix, and I did a ton of research when I was looking for a yorkie, and wanted pretty much exactly the same thing you are wanting, but ended up getting a yorkie from texas.. he was only $700, bestest yorkie ever! But I did find a breeder that I liked in phoenix.. this is the website http://www.barhaardtyorkies.com/ I dont think they are in your price range.. but you can check them out Good luck!

Not offended at all! I completely understand. Beyond the $600 I dont mind bartering for services at all. Im a doula in training and I own a car waxing business, my car details are worth $200 and doula services can cost up to $600 in this area, and I dont mind bartering for the right puppy! But that means, also, finding the right breeder who is interested in the barter . Im very careful with money and like to have at least $1000 in the bank for emergency care for a dog. I understand that they are expensive but I am a resourceful little critter and if it can be found, I'll be the one to find it! And if I can't, 1. I have other breeds Im interested in that cost less, and 2. I have no problem adopting if my puppy resources are maxed out. I dont mind missing toes or other "oddities" either (for instance, Ive bought an incredibly nice chocolate lab whose siblings were going for over 1200 bucks for 300 since he had a "freak" white spot on his tail and couldnt be papered, etc) but I am looking for a certain "look" and also perhaps to get involved in show ring further down the road and the best way to do that IMO is to get up close and personal with a breeder with showing in mind (or a show family with breeding in mind)! And that relationship is also something that Im interested in. If it came down to purely wanting a puppy, here's cash, and walk away I would be expecting the price to be higher, but Im looking for a little more. Like I said, I dont know the breed, but if that happens in Yorkies like it does in other breeds then this is not an impossible find and just involves utilizing the right resources, so I thought I would start here And if I find super nice pups for $600 and no attachment YOU BET I'll share! I am gooooood free advertisement Also, I didnt mean to imply (if I did) that the spay agreement should lower the price. For my first pup (who will be a pet and nothing more) I prefer a spay agreement, as I am in no position to start popping out puppies and wont be for several years, esp. with not knowing the breed very well. Ive noticed the females often go for more, and thats understandable, Ive found that in every breed I've looked at and ESPECIALLY in horses (we've been raising top ten Appaloosas for about 5 years, I find a lot about horses is similar to dogs). I wouldnt MIND a male at ALL, but would prefer a female I looked at that web site, but it seems their dogs noses seem really long? Thanks so far guys It will be a long road but if theres a will theres a way! Ill keep you updated!

well i was just trying to give you some helpful websites. If you are looking for pet quality, then the nose might not be a perfect little button. But, I think her previous pups that she sold are super adorable.. the more recent ones arn't as cute as the older ones.

SupPup Your'e right! I live here in Glendale, Arizona and I haven't found anything in the state that comes from an ethical breeder that I like. WELCOME TO YT by the way! lol You may want to consider Yorkie adoption. If you don't mind an oddity and know what you want in regard to size at maturity, why not get a young adult? Give it a go, I don't have the links handy to post, but if you can't find them PM me and I'll be sure to get them to you. You're right, $600 isn't going to get you a Yorkie that fits your description, unless either A you adopt or B you find that breeder that is looking for your services to barter w/. Keep looking and keep us posted! I know that if you go to other states for a Yorkie you might, but not here. If you're willing to ship, that might be an option, but then again you'd be then looking at a shipping fee! What other breeds are you looking into?

Thank you for the link, i reallly appreciate it I do, but a long nose is a definite no for me personally. If I end up paying cash and carrying a pup out another state wouldnt be a problem, but I am really looking for that special breeder who would like to take the time to show me the ropes so I can get involved in the breed Everything I do with animals I do 100%. Im currently looking at Miniature Pinschers and Shelties as well. We have a weight limit in the apt and I really want to stay as small as possible. With a Min Pin I would probably not be involved in the breed. Out here, it feels like a chore to look for a nice one, a lot of them look like chihuahuas and if I wanted a Chi I would get a Chi. I like a very "distinctive" dog, KWIM? Back home, my mom has a friend who has a friend (sounds like a game of telephone doesnt it?) who breeds them and could get me a decent price on pet stock but high-quality pups, but Ive been straying from them recently because of the fact that I wouldnt feel like getting "into" the breed, for my own reasons. Another long-winded conversation but not on topic so Ill spare you as far as Shelties go, my fiance doesnt like them as much as the Yorkies. I would just get a pet quality cash-and-carry pup in Shelties as the show quality pups are expensive as well and they can be VERY hit-and-miss anyway, KWIM? I dont mind travelling for the right pup if the price and quality were right. My car gets 45 mpg on the highway and I like driving But I really, really want that breeder-to-owner relationship. I very much enjoy that with our horses and appreciated it as an owner in dogs with previous pups, but Ive found you have to root quite a bit to find it in an area such as this. I dont mind rooting, but I have backups in case it doesnt work out, see? Hehe! Thank you for all the luck you all wish me, I see now that I will need it more than I expected! I will definitely stick around and let you know how the search goes, and if it doesnt go well, no worries! I have plenty of time. Ive seen some posts in a negative manner toward Missouri and Yorkie breeders, whats the fluff there? Im from St Louis and plan on going back once we finish our schooling, and was surprised to see that. Just curious and not offended at all, Id like to know whats up? Thanks everyone for your replies! Keep em coming

Regarding Missouri breeders--I am sure there are good ones. However Missouri is a hotbed of puppymills, so just be careful. Also, the Amish in PA are known to be big puppymillers.....

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Good luck and keep us posted if you find one. I had to get trixie out of state and she is a mix. she cost 600 and then I had to pay shipping. I wouldnt trade her for the world! Lowest I found was 850 for a boy.

yorkie adoption over the years i have adopted 5 'retired' yorkies. yes they were not pups but, i loved each one of them...Many breeders will let their retired yorkies go to good homes. ANYONE know where I can get a yorkie to adopt? I am in Arizona, but, can travel to near states to adopt. thanks melanie azangel711@yahoo.com

I would just like to tell you that I hope that you find your little baby girl but I would also like to tell you that there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie teacup is a term used by unreputeable breeders and or puppymills that don't care about the dog or it's health or the love of the breed and are only in it for the money.
