| Changed my mind - want an adult female OK OK, Thanks for some of the replies. Some were very informative fegarding my wanting to trade for a baby to have a litter. However, I must say being a doctor myself if I talked and taught my residents with the attitude some people have on here the world would be in trouble. And maybe you too b/c they might be treating you some day. I try to EDUCATE, encourage their dreams and teach them to treat their patients like they would their own family. I wouldn't do any less myself. I have been reading and doing research on this subject for many years. All you had to start somewhere. I know where my heart is and where my head is for that matter. I want to find an adult or puppy female b/c I've had males dogs growing up. I am willing to pay up to 800. and travel to get her. I am willing to do whatever it takes to give her the best life possible and if that means not breeding then so be it. Thank you so much for the very informative info and that's what I really need to help me see what is best. The other stuff can stay in your closed mind where it belongs. Faith 633-0450 Virginia |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I mean this in the nicest way - in your original post you stated you wanted a 'tiny' to breed ....that kind of statement brings out passion in people. Many of us are really trying to educate people on the dangers of breeding tinies... IF you have a dream ...no one wants to interfere with that... but many people just don't realize how dangerous it can be for the little females that are bred. The best post to you was by the member Topknot - she really gave you some good information....even I saved that one... I used to think I wanted to breed too...but after reading and listening to the REAL breeders for the last few years ...I really don't know if it would be for me...I keep my mind open to it... but it's a huge committment and can be heartbreaking as well as very exciting If you are looking for a yorkie to have as a family member - there are many wonderful yorkies for sale and I wish you the best of luck. |

I too bought an adult female when she was three years old and she is my spoiled baby girl and I feel like I've had her forever. Good luck in finding yours

| Got it now I got it now and certainly thank everyone for helping me understand their concerns. So I live near VA Tech and would use them as my Mentor. They have one of the best animal care places in the East. And if anyone has a tiny one I will agree not to breed it. If it's over 5lbs then I would have lots of help with the breeding process and I would also have you all! This seems like a site I culd use often. I would also be willing to take in an elderly Yorkie that someone can no longer keep. I currently have a 15 yr old Tabby I took in 2 yrs ago. She's wonderful and has been around other animals all her life, so that wouldn't be a problem. Thanks again, I mean that. And keep the info coming. God bless and Jesus is the reason for the season. | Faith...no thank you and I mean that...it is just so hard to have people come in and want to breed...then to add atiny into the mix...makes it really hard to sit and read... Good luck to you in your search...maybe try petfinder.com...or someone else may know of another source.... Welcome to YT

| The tiny Yorkie needs to be placed first before anything. Are you willing to lose a tiny healthy Yorkie just for breeding? I have to say. I totally agree w/ Txshopper that if research has been done for quite sometime, it would be noted that the smallest of Yorkie's are placed in grave danger to be bred. Please find a YTCA breeder and research more. This is above all, better for any Yorkie. It seems that more research needs to be done.

| Breeding I spent years researching the yorkie breed and I will NEVER know it all! But anyone that would even think about breeding a tiny fragile female does NOT need a yorkie on full registration.. JMO.. I wish I could explain to you how scared I am everytime one of my females whelps, rather she is 5 lbs or 7 lbs.. Even though I try to do everything right by my yorkies, I have to realize everytime I breed one I am risking their life! I worked as a vet tech for years and I have brought that knowledge into my program.. I also have a wonderful trusting loving Vet, but things still can and do go wrong.. When I have a female due to whelp I NEVER leave my home.. My husband and I take turning sleeping through the night from day 55 to the time she whelps.. I wish you luck! Just make sure if you breed to purchase a large female and not a so-called teacup, tiny or mini.. Melanie |

| If you truly want to be a breeder, then don't let anything stomp on your dreams. Being a doctor, you have a great advantage over most of us! I will say that you should never consider breeding a tiny female. 5 lbs, minimum. No exceptions. Research in the medical field is so important and it's no different in the doggie world. I wish you the best and if you ever have any questions, feel free to call on me anytime. ( I also may have tons of questions for you, hee hee ) |

| This thread sounds better. I read the other thread and wanted to reply but it was already closed. We all have new things to learn everyday..... If someone didn't know something, don't be judgemental. "In my opinion" some of the comments in responses were not necessary, and it got me a bit upset. People are on YT don't mean we all know some of the common sense about yorkie. People like me come to learn. Something can mean a lot to some people even you might think those are unwanted stuff or stupid idea.... Everyone has different value level. I love everyone here.. and it is great to share opinions and knowledge.. but no need to be judgemental.. So I like this thread much better. I hope daisyria can get tons of information here and take time to make decision. It is better to spend more time to learn before it gets too late and you feel sorry. Don't be discouraged... Having a yorkie is just wonderful... as some said, you can feel a lot of joy without breeding them too! I think you should try getting one at time to see how you feel! Because they are living animals, you want to make sure you can handle it. I am watching two dogs today.. it is a bit hard! since i usually watch only one dog at time. Happy Holiday, everyone.

| Thanks for all the help Thanks again and I will keep in touch to let you know what I decide. At this point I know that I would never ever risk the life of any animal. And if I ever do breed it will be a good size female, say 7lbs??? I've always had a great love of animals and have always hoped to share in their birthing process at some time. But for now I think I'll get one and see how I feel about it. I'm a real softy so maybe it might not be for me but I'm willing to listen with an open mind and open heart and do the right thing. Merry Christmas, Faith One question - Do the Yorkies tend to be snippy around small children? I have a Granddaughter coming soon so I wanted to check this out. |
