How do you know if your yorkie is eligible to be in a show? Do you have to buy her from a certain place?

You have to get it from a reputable breeder as a show pontential. Usually the older the pup the better this way you are able to see more clearly if he/she has the qualities necessary to be shown.

The easiest way to find out is to attend shows in your area and ask a show breeder to evaluate your yorkie. Be sure that it is one that has been around for long enough to be able to give you an acurate accessment. Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinions as to what is good and what isn't. If you purchased your yorkie from a show breeder - go to them and ask for an evaluation. Read the standard before you go so that you will have some idea of what the person is talking about. The standard can be found on the YTCA website at: http://www.ytca.org Good luck! Charlie Evenstar Yorkies

pet "Adorable" is high on the list for a pet, IMO ,but unfortunately it is not one of the points of the AKC standard. You can train her for obedience or Agility.

clubs It is fairly easy to join most regional/local Yorkie clubs..some encourage pet owners more then others, but you need sponsors..The YTCA is the parent or national club and much harder to join. They perfer exhabitors and you need sponsors who have known you for two yrs, know your breeding program and ethic's..etc...

You do not have to be a breeder or exhibitor at the time you join or at anytime. However, there is a code of ethics and code of conduct that members are expected to adhere to. Regional clubs are run pretty much the same way.

| What are some of the address' I can go to to get the information & also about web rings? What is the deal with those? I don't understand them I guess. If you have the address to any of them would be nice so I can try to see what it is all about. Is there alot of travel involved? My youngest daughter will be 14 Nov. 6 & has been asking alot of questions about showing or anything they offer but I am not sure about going about it all besides 4H. LOL Please bear with me!

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you. YTCA.org is the mother clubs website. From there you can go to the regional clubs. I'm not sure there is anything on junior handling here. If your daughter is interested in Junior Handling, the best thing is to go to the AKC website and find a All Breed Club in your area and contact them. They will most likely lead you to Junior Handling Classes and/or put you in touch with someone that can help you. Ask as many questions as you like, I'll do my best to answer, if I can't I'll find someone that can.
