Shih-tzu, Donna, Shih-tzu Now THAT is a topknot!! I love their hairdo

It's all wrong but it happens and unfornuately it's gonna continue.
JMHO

I so agree. Can't put coat color over structure and can't throw out an excellent dog if it's coat color doesn't measure up to some color that nobody can agree on anyway! Look at the entries in the ring and see how many different colors they all are.

It's a fact that most showdogs are enhanced in some way and the coated breeds especially. It's not going to change. When I first went to dog shows, I was shocked because I thought it wasn't allowed but the hairspray, chalk, dyes, etc. are flying under every grooming tent. So where do you draw the line? If you put gel or spray in your dog's topknot, or flat iron them or even use finishing spray, you're as guilty of enhancing your dog as if you dyed his coat.

That's the dog show game, full of hypocrisy and politics but you can win if you get a good enough dog and I when I go to a show, I don't go for the fun of it. I intend to win. Of course, it doesn't always happen but it's not because my dog isn't professionally represented.

I have heard that the international show are more strict when it comes to dyeing but that is still goes on there. Are the international shows as political as the ones in the U.S.?

I have no clue or answers for international shows. But I'm guessing politics are politics no matter what country you show in...

When I first started showing, the breeder told me to color my girl so I did and at the show the next day I must have done a great job because she yelled out loud yes everyone looked and looked and I was terribly embarassed, she yelled out loud she looks so much darker than I remember. Yep the same person that told me to do it then did that to me and it was her breeding I was trying to show to win and I was showing against her that day. But anyways the girl didn't like to show and would not walk when in the ring so it didn't matter
I don't like the dying the hair etc. It makes it hard when you are looking for a stud or a line to add to your program and you don't know for sure if that is indeed the true color of the dog or not.
It is a jungle out there LOL

You must be kidding!! In Europe everything is MUCH MORE "political"!
***
About dyeing!
I was told that only in Finland almost all winners has to submit hair sample for testing. Other than that they are doing the same.

***
BTW It would be nice to find out what people mean by "dyeing".
Is using "Color Enhancing Botanical Conditioner" considering dyeing?

THey use it all, I have even seen them put eye liner on a Yorkie at a show in VA, my daughter was younger and she was like MOM did you see that?
LOL of course they realized that people were starting to watch and made sure to block what they were doing it was utterly ridicolous in my opinion.
If your dog doesn't have nice eye liner it just doesn't, I just can't get into the mind set of putting eyeliner on a dog.

I'm guessing when people say dye they mean enhancing...black rage is just a temorary rinse that comes out the next time you wash your hair and I know some that use #1 All Systems red/brown conditionar to enhance the gold so it's all considered what I call dyeing but it's all just enhancing JMHO

The problem is
there are not to many products like "Color Enhancing" are available in Europe.
I heart that even if they buy product like #1 All Systems in Europe the next wash the color becoming greenish, meaning they are using fake products.
So they are trying to use something other than just "Color Enhancing"

Am I saying 2 much?

I don't know if they are as political but I was told by Arlene the founder of Pure Paws that her team has found that the AKC championship is the most difficult title in the world to obtain and is therefore the most coveted. I got to work with her team for a couple of days this weekend and I saw alot of cool stuff. The enhancements on all different breeds are incredible but some of the things that they do with the poodles, wow!! I thought they only did hair extentions in the salon! Alot of these groomers are just as talented at hairstyling as the stylists that I used to attend shows and competitions with. If you ever get a chance to meet anyone on the Pure Paws team take it, they are just the nicest people.

I don't think you are saying too much all I know of is about the black rage and chocolate kiss and the all systems enhancers. I don't know about any other products. Knowing me I'd mess things up if I ever tried it lol
