| OK! Looks like I’m not expressing myself clearly. Let’s try one more time! *** The breeders who are ahead of American breeders would be more than happy to work with American breeders!! They are not good in English, but they are very good at showing the dogs!! Now!! Who can I talk? How can I help breeders from different countries working together? |

I will say this, I chalked my Parson Russell Terrier like EVERY other terrier handler. Poodles handlers hide second bands in topknots, Poodle handlers use wiggies, Maltese handlers bleach lemon colored ears, Sheltie handlers fix ears, Yorkie handlers tie ears and there is lots of nose dying in all breeds. Dogs are "enhanced". It is a fact of life. There was a well known Shih Tza years ago that won lots of groups and Best In Shows. This dog was a gorgeous color and his markings were perfect. I remember how heart broken I was when I found out that his markings were painted on. Now, if I knew it don't you think the judges knew it? Judges know these dogs are dyed and most do nothing about it. There is a list floating around of the few judges that don't allow tied ears. The rest don't care. I am on a list with judges and the subject of dyed Yorkshire Terriers came up. The advice given by the more experienced judges was to look at structure and coat quality and not to judge color. They were told to look for a silk coat with the proper sheen. I can somewhat see the logic because a dyed coat does not have the shine that a natural coat has. | |

| I would think it wouldn't be allowed to put dye on a dog's hair to show. It sounds like cheating to me. I would never even think about dying my boys' hair.....or, getting a tattoo.....or, piercing their ears!!! How ridiculous.

| My dogs are microchipped. It is dangerous not to have them tatooed or micro chipped. They could be lost forever. |

| Mine are microchipped and DNA'd. If they find that microchips cause problems down the road I will start tatooing. Donna. was a tatoo a problem to care for during healing? I'd rather see a dog in the ring with some color enhancement than one strung up to hide a bad lay back of shoulders or other structural fault.

| I am not going to say that it is cheating or not cheating. I don't think it is my place to judge anyone just like I would hope no one would judge me. I would like to explain hair color. It is not like the harsh stuff that humans use. Usually it is a shampoo or conditioner that has a small amount of color that darkens hair a shade or too. The dogs don't sit around with a chemical on their hair. It is no different than getting a bath. Last edited by lwolfe; 05-11-2008 at 05:59 PM. Reason: spelling |

| Where did you get the GPS microchip, Laurie? It's a great idea and would bring alot of peace of mind.

| Before mircochipping most show dogs were tatooed. We had a poodle stolen in the 70s and he ended up in FL being show with a different name. We knew it was our dog but couldn't prove it. I wish we had tatooed him. |
