Carlo is a handsome fella. Are their ears naturally small or are their ears cropped?

Ears cropped, and tail docked. Some leave the ears natural. Carlo resembles me quite a bit, or so I am told. Still not sure how to take that.

Tammy's love and devotion to her babies is so apparent, and I have nothing but respect for her. I understand when people believe in breeding to the standard, but I can't understand how one can make a blanket statement that all parti breeders are disreputable and doing so only for money.

Thank you. I came across video of Forrest the other day and cried as I remembered him. I can't help but think his life would, could and should have been completely different, if only .......if only the breeder would have known what she was doing, if only the breeder would have questioned his new owners....if only the owners would have been more dedicated....if only.....

Like you I certainly believe in breeding to the standard but I also know what dedicated parti breeders should want and it's no different than what dedicated, reputable, traditional color yorkie breeders should want.

The purpose for showing dogs is to have your breeding stock evaluated. But my impression is, today's dog show is much more of a beauty pageant, than it is an honest evaluation of the dogs physical attributes and/or faults. When you are aware a judge has put up a dog with bad knees, over looks obvious dye jobs, etc., it opens your eyes to what is truly going on.....And.....showing is okay, if that is what a breeder chooses to do to validate their breeding....but, I don't think it's necessary to show, to be a good, reputable, dedicated breeder........Tammy has proven that to me!

Parti color yorkies as well as traditional colors can both get CHIC numbers. To do so their knees are evaluated using the OFA Patellar exam and the eyes are tested using the CERF exam. That is a truer evaluation of the soundness than just showing a dog and if done for generations gives you far more information than just champions in a pedigree. Canine Health Information Center

Do you know if you can CHIC them if they have excellent penn hips and not OFA???

Thank-you for asking. At the present time only OFA is accepted for CHIC.

I just checked with someone who is more familiar with this than I am. Hips are not a required test for CHIC. They said that all you need is the OFA Patellar (knees) and CERF for eyes. Sorry about that! I don't know if CHIC recognizes the Penn Hip test and will even list it on the dogs list of health exams. Will call try to find out next week and come back with the answer.

As far as "bragging rights" is concerned. You guys do it all the time. I see brag threads and everyone is happy for the one who is bragging. You can bet your last dollar that when I do finish a carrier (and I will) I will be here to brag about it.
