I think it is a misunderstanding. It might be slow to being cleared up, but the rescue is run by volunteers. There is no staff dedicated staff.

| I think whoever had her first gave her to someone & so on & so on. I think probably that's how she ended up matted as no one really took care of her grooming. I can understand why they wanted proof of ownership too. I have found dogs myself that were in such a bad way & I did not turn the dog back to the owner without lots of proof that the dog was theirs. I think maybe they got all their proof now & that's why they finaly took her off the site. Last edited by lillymae; 02-11-2011 at 09:43 PM. |

Just because applications come in does not mean we HAVE to adopt the dog out while we are trying to figure out ownership. It really is not so difficult to investigate. If the OP is giving us the full story, this rescue IS hiding this dog imho.

Sadly I have seen rescuers keep people's dogs. I have seen them say it publically....on yahoo forum and say the dog was in "bad shape". One here in TX finally had to give them up (there were two dogs) after the family hired an attorney and the judge threatened jail for the head of the rescue until she gave the dogs back. She gave them back.

| I seriously think you are just wasting time dealing with the police. You need to get an attorney involved as ladyjane suggested many times. When attorneys get involved people start listening. I hope its not too late

| OP if you ever get a chance, can you post pics of Callie before she got lost, or a copy of the flier you and your daughter posted? I'd be more than happy to send it along to whatever email address you were given. The more we remind them of how much Callie was loved in her home, the more we'll keep it fresh in their mind. I don't mind helping in whatever small way I can!

| Sorry I haven't figured out exactly how to post pictures of Cali. We have not got her back and I believe we are not going to be able to get her back. We never once got a response from the site after emailing them. I think its a dead end. I did notify the police and the spca. Thank you to all who tried to help and to those of you who gave words of encouragement. ( I do have plenty of Pic's of Cali, but was unable to post them.) Thanks again, Cali's Gram ma |
