| Flea question I've done a search on fleas on this website, and all which was a toss up between frontline and advantage. Some say that Frontline didn't really last the 3 months they were supposed to and that it depends on some dogs on how it lasts. I didn't hear much about Advantage, just that the people who have used it, worked for them. Are these the ones that you put between the shoulder blades? And also, anyone know of a good Flea Shampoo that actually works? I found 2 fleas last night.. but couldn't find any on the kiddies, But I want to treat them for fleas just incase because they have been itchy lately. |

| I use frontline plus on my Rottweiler and I will be using it on Carl also. You do apply it between the shoulder blades. If you feel that it is too much liquid for one location, you can move down an inch or so and apply some in a second location. I also use it monthly during the summer. It stops the entire flea cycle that way. I intend to use it monthly on Carl but will consult with the vet as this is my first yorkie. |

| Advantage I have used it on Charlie since he was 11 weeks old and we've never seen a flea! It is the kind you put between their shoulders. Advantage makes their varieties by age and weight so it'll be safe for your dog. Flea dips... i don't know... maybe just take it to the groomer and get a flea bath and then apply the treatment. You shouldn't have any problems after that.

| Thank's everyone, I've done a lot of researching on this forum, and on the net and have found that A lot of people were using Frontline, but when using Advantage it worked better. So! I'm going with Advantage and the shampoo i'll be using is Ark Naturals - Since it has Neem in it. Thank you! |

| To piggy back on this thread, my Katia is 8 weeks old, when do I start the flea treatments? And do I do them no matter what or do I wait for a flea problem? |

| Flea Shampoo It would be a good idea to ask your vet about which flea shampoo to use. Some of the stuff is really potent and can make them sick. You also shouldn't use the flea shampoo and frontline or advangage together, too many pesticides. |

| My back & side yard is gated for the dogs all along the left side is woods. We have tick flare ups in those woods=(. I found that the advantage did not prevent ticks but the front line did. We tried advantage 3 different times and ended up with ticks on the big dogs. We decided to stick to frontline as that seems to work best for flea and tick prevention.

| i use 20 mule team borax to keep the roaches away that we have her in the south. much cheaper than an exterminator. and it works. i just sprinkle it all over the garage and behind furniture and any where that it can't be seen or reached by my yorkies. one question i would like to add to this... is it safe for pets to be around it? i have come across sites that say it is and some that say it isn't? i just keep it out of reach of mine just in case. there was a thread about this a while back. do a search and put in the key words "lemon & flea". it will give you more info.

| Vinegar flea "dip" works great You can buy 20 Mule Team Borax in the grocery store. It's in the laundry detergent section. If you are looking for a non-toxic flea "dip" for a puppy or a grown up, use vinegar! It works like magic. I put my guy in the bath tub and really give him a rinse with it, any flea jumps off like they were set on fire. I towel off the boy, then rinse the tub with Clorox. Mickey only smells like an Easter egg until he dies completely, or I sometimes follow up with a No-More-Tears shampoo if he needs it. |

| The only thing about the grocery store Borax Detergent is the detergent. I didn't want all that soap in my carpet, so I just went with the straight Borax from the Feed Store. The vinegar tip was great. Do you dilute the vinegar rinse? If so, how much.
