| I don't understand these types of posts. Shouldn't they be online researching or in the library or asking their vet these questions? Is the 1st thing that comes to my mind. I'm not judging, just trying to understand. To the OP, I wish you the best & hope Bella will have a safe whelp. Please post in the breeder section, there's many experienced, helpful breeders here on YT. Please do your research because it can save your baby girl!

| Neither is a sore throat but I still wouldn't wait until after the holidays to have it seen about. To me, it's the principal of the matter and where your priorities lie. Sorry, but that's how I see it.

| I definitely think these relatives should be pitching in some cash to help

| The issue that I see with this suggestion is that friends and relatives are looking for free puppies and many times are not will or able to help financially. Which of course brings about an entirely different issues.

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Exactly. I always will have a way to pay for something in an emergency and if I didn't for some reason, then I know my family would be willing to help with Morgan's care.

If the dog isn't that far along and an x-ray wouldn't be useful, would the vet even be able to tell for sure if she is pregnant? Could she possibly be going into heat or having a false pregnancy? Personally I don't see this as something that needs to be addressed immediately. I would treat the dog like she is pregnant until I could get her into the vet in a week or two. I will say that I am not a breeder and am not an expert on breeding and whelping, so if there is an immediate need to go to the vet if you suspect your dog is newly pregnant please let me know.

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | This is very true as well. Sometimes family comes looking for handouts but doesn't want to offer anything in return to help. The family members who are expecting to get the free puppies may be too excited with the thought of a new puppy to realize the cost to the family member responsible for the breeding or to realize the cost to them when/if they get the puppy. Nothing in life is free.

As I don't really feel this is useful for the thread, I won't respond further.

For the record, it does not sound to me like the OP should be breeding her dog. Props to everyone who addressed that, rather than speculating on her character.
