| I have read quite a bit in support of the chip. Maybe I'm overthinking this . Yikes!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | All 3 of mine are chipped....and I def feel better that they have a chip. I keep their chip numbers (and the chip company's phone #) in my wallet at all times.

| Deep down I believe it is a good idea. Incidents of complications seem rare. I thought I would ask the many yorkie owners here if they ever had a problem with the chip. I like the fact if, God forbid, she got out I could register an alternate phone number while we're out of the country. Thanks for you input

| both of mine are chipped both were chipped when fully awake and aware. Sadie's went well she didn't make a peep, Bentley's i wasn't in the room for and they said he did cry a bit. neither have any problems whatsoever with them. both are home again. the orginal membership to their online database services is included in the chipping, yearly renewal is about 16.00 somthing. even if you do not renew membership you will always have their chip number which will always be directed to their call center and have your name and address and phone number listed. the membership pays for their services which send a fax/email to all the local vets should they be lost and alerts everyone around and also keeps an online profile database for your pets. i'd say chipping is the best and easiest way to get a pet home. always keep tags on when they are outside and could get loose as well just in case someone doesn't know about chips they can quickly call your numbers. but the chip is the only way to prove a stolen dog belongs to you...so CHIP! |

I had Bailey chipped years ago as well and hers is Avid I didn't know you could transfer from Avid to Home again, Bella's is Home Again I will have to look into that and have it done. Thanks for the info OP...I have both my babies chipped, they were wide awake. Bailey didn't make a sound. Bella let out one lil yelp and that was it...They didn't have any reactions to it at all. I feel so much better knowing they are chipped cause dogs are getting stolen right out of your home these days and I know that chip will be my only way of getting my pets back and like someone else said a chip is the only way to prove a stolen dog is yours. just look at it this way...its for the best interest of your baby and your piece of mine

| I did the micro chipping for all my dogs. I wait till they are bigger atleast 3-4 lbs. I had one that was 2 lbs and stopped growing, he got one eventually, he didn't even notice me. I surely notice. Have you ever gotten your belly button pierced I'd imagine that's what it feels like, but less pain since you aren't leaving a gauge in to keep the hole open. |

Does my pet have to be microchipped with a HomeAgain® brand microchip in order to utilize the HomeAgain service? No - pets with any brand of microchip may enroll in the HomeAgain service.

| Levi is microchipped through resQ (petlink) and has had no ill effects whatsoever...plus it really does give me more peace of mind. His brand has no registration fee and no annual upkeep fees. His was more expensive through a regular vet (about $50), but I managed to get my brother's puppy microchipped with resQ at a rabies clinic last year and was only charged $20.

| Soph was done during a regular vet visit. she didn't even flinch when the chipped her and the needle looked huge to this mama's eyes, kicked up more of a fuss with her regular vaccinations which use a MUCH smaller needle. Gulliver was done when he was neutered but neither one of them act like it affected them in the slightest. The cost as far as monthly/yearly monitoring depends on which chip company your vet uses and also on which particular service level with that company. it ranges from free after the initial imbedding fee to various pricing levels. Soph is just on the basic plan for petfinders which is free. for a fee they offer different levels of assistance should she be lost. Gulliver is with Banfield's plan, also free. No matter which plan you choose, microchipping is something I would definitely recommend. |

| Blazer and Bella are chipped, they are my little escape artists. All the vet did was rub a little local anesthetic on the area stuck the needle in and whalaa. They were chipped. The chip itself is about the size of a piece of rice. Neither one even yelped. They deadened the area first, so it didn't hurt. It's a very simple procedure. The sooner you do it, the safer your pet will be. I didn't have to pay any registration fee, maybe it was included in the price of the chipping. Do it, you won't regret it.
