You could ask vet though - what about histoplasmosis, lymphangiecstasia, ple, epi, compost? She will tell you know it is not this because ....... etc but if you brought up something she had not thought about it may trigger a hmmm had not thought about that let me look into it. This breed tends to have more ple, epi, ibd type issues than hypoparathyroid. I am sure she will be able to tell you why she ruled these out as well. My vet through out lymphangiecstasia to me and so that is when i went home and read on it and said what??? my dd has perfect blood work and it ended up being clostridium on fecal. So they do the same thing as it is a process of elimination sometimes to figure out what is going on and sometimes a few heads are better than one | |

Please make sure that you listen to your vet and follow through with whatever test need to be given. Did they take a PTH level and Calcium draw? Your thread is becoming confusing and hard to follow along.

| what is this PPLE and EPI. I got the irritatable bowel one, but these other two I can't figure out. Yes I agree more heads are better, and thankyou very much for taking your time out and trying to help me with tucker. I will remember to tell the vet everything, I keep a doggie journal type thing in a tablet, so I know everytime my guys go to the vet and the reactions if any they had or what they went for. It really comes in handy. |

Wow thanks Dwerten that was a fantastic link to use as a reference guide to understanding the diagnosis.

| I can't follow my own thread!!! yes he had 2 calcium labs, 3rd one coming this friday. he started calcium today, script kind? one thyroid test, which was just alittle low, the vet wasn't concerned with that one. She's leaning on parathyroid, not regular thyroid. |

| Make sure to post back and let us know what they Calcium draw shows. You might be good letting him lay in the sunlight. Calcium is absorbed with Vitamin D and you get it through sunlight expose. Who wouldn't love to lay in the warm sun.

| I will let you know soon as I know anything, Tucker does love the sun, but soon as he pants he has to come into the ac. due to his trachea issues. Maybe I'll look for a doggie tanning bed..he can get his vit.D and ac at the same time!!!hee hee.. Thanks again, Tracey |

| Tuckers calcium levels are better!!! Tuckers labs are better, his 1st calcium lab was 6.8, 2nd. one was 5.9, now after 4 doses of the prescription calcium it is up to 6.2. The vet said if he is stabilizing physically over the weekend then I can wait till next friday for a repeat lab. She believes it will take a few weeks to get his level up to 8 or 9 where she wants it. I'll feel better when she does another whole panel of labs again. I think she's waiting for him to recooperate alittle. I'll post his next level next friday. So once again Thankyou to all for all the great info. Tracey and Tucker |
