| ![]() just wanted to add since talking about teeth NO DENTAL VACCINES EVER - alot of side effects and it is new and we do not get dental vaccines so our dogs do not need them either - JUST SAY NO lolll also if your dog has had a reaction to a vaccine remember each vaccine reaction thereafter is WORSE so please think long and hard and do alot of research before doing the next one Also it says on the vaccine FOR HEALTHY DOGS ONLY so if your dog has health issues PLEASE do your homework even more and make sure your dog really needs it as you may encounter more health issues ![]() |

| ![]() What if you have higher risk dogs? I see grooming at home and not being boarded mentioned. Both my yorkie and my Westie go to a busy groomer's AND they board when we travel. Sometimes only for a week-end - but they do board. Does this make a difference? |

| ![]() I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but local laws often require some vaccines more frequently than recommended. For example, in our town, rabies is required yearly because we're a "high risk" area. There is a large fine if your dog is found to be out of compliance. I risk it, but others might not.

the dog can go into remission after a year with chemo and steroid therapy. They do both then wean back steroids then wean back the chemo and hope within a year the dog goes into remission. My friends dog has it and i called her last night and this is what she told me. Her dog had partial paralysis, circled, head pressed and had seizures. She has been dealing with it since November. It happened a couple months after vaccinations Last edited by dwerten; 05-11-2010 at 04:00 PM. | |

| ![]() I don't want to go with the short answer here because there are always exceptions to the rule, but if we are talking about DHP, then the answer is no, you do not need to do it yearly (high risk or not). Puppy shots, one year booster, and then every three years is a very acceptable schedule. You can do them less (after one year booster), but that gets a bit controversial and I'm not going to tell people that's what they should do. This goes for modified live vaccines (DHP). Bordatella nd rabies are different cases entirely. You will need to get bordatella every 6-12 months if you believe it is needed for your dogs. This every three year rule also does not apply to lepto, lymes, or the rest of the list.

| ![]() i would take the info to vet and discuss and decide what you are comfortable with for your dog. Just read up and learn so you feel comfortable for your area you live in. |

| ![]() Thanks. FL can be difficult. H/W, fleas, ticks amoung other issues year round so I really do not want to over vac. I take the pups to a fairly busy groomer but they are not boarded and stay home and a friends stays house and pup sits when we travel so is bordatella still a good call?
