| I had my girls spayed at the same clinic but differnt doctors. They both had the desolving stitches and what appeared to be a "liquid bandaid" over the stitches. Lola has absolutely no scar and Lia has a scar. It was apparent that diffent stitch techniques were used but both healed great. Thanks for sharing your experience as we can all learn from this. Take care of Sugar~

| I feel horrible for you and your sweet baby. I hated to leave my little girl to be spayed but I have a wonderful loving vet. Tessie had a small pocket to start bleeding at the stitches but my vet put bandages on her belly and wrapped it around her. This was to keep her from having to wear a collar. There was no pain when they were removed. I would have been hysterical if this happened to my baby. I would find another vet. The vet may not have done this they usually have vet techs who handle the treatments. I would talk to the vet in charge. Hugs and kisses to Sugar.

YT 2000 Club Member | This is just horrible for your little furbaby, however it isn't your fault. The bandage the vet used looks a lot like the bandage the hospital uses to put over a heart cath site for pressure dressing to prevent bleeding. This type of bandage is overkill for spay surgery, IMO. When both my girls had their surgery's (spay) neither one had bandages of any kind and they heal without scarring. I feel for you and your little furbaby. I pray she heals without any further problem and remember this is NOT your fault.

| Good Lord!!! Poor baby. Mia didn't have any bandage on her surgery area either. We, too, used tiny onesie's instead of the e-collar. I hate taking off a bandage on my own skin much less this little girl! ugh! Give her lots of love and I don't think I'd make the next vet visit (even to a new one) for any reason except to visit it. No shots or surgeries. That way she starts to forget the bad experience. Bring treats, too.

| I am so very sorry that your little one has suffered so - sending . I have used Herbal Wound Spray exclusively on both serious and minor injuries for the past several years. Although it is an "animal product" I use it on my booboo's too including the surgical incisions resulting from my nasty 4-wheeler accident. My doctors were absolutely amazed to watch my 9" incision heal with almost no scaring. Here is a link to the product. Montana Emu Ranch Co. ::... Please don't feel quilty. The spay was certainly in her best interests. If my vet treated one of my babies in that manner not only would be looking a new vet, I would be spreading the word about the treatment I got with the old one. |

| I'm not a vet tech but I am a train surgical tech and from the pics the bandage tore some of your babies skin. If anything you need to make a complaint. That is a big no-no, knowing that will happen they should have rub at least alcohol to loosen the bandage. I'm so sorry.

| Oh my - those photos are simply awful!! Poor thing must have hurt horribly. No adhesive bandages every used around here that I've ever heard of. Using the e-collar is enough if they lick at them. On another note - please get some organize, extra virgin coconut oil - you can use it on the area and it will help heal it naturally. If she licks at it once it's on, there is no concern as it is good for them to have internally as well. Sending out hugs to Sugar and you...

| I just had my Yorkie neutered last week. I asked if they would be putting a bandage on it, they told me that they wouldn't be. He would be messing with it otherwise. I didn't know. I just thought it would be like how when we have surgery in a hospital and how it is done, but it isn't. Mine was licking it, so I put his e-collar on that I had from another previous visit. I agree with the rest of the folks here, find another Vet. Good Luck |

| Bandages should never be put over sutures, unless temporary. Sutures should be inspected at least daily to ensure proper healing. No swelling, redness, oozing from the surgical site. Onsies are fine as you can easily look under them to assess the condition of the wound. Dogs will usually not eat if they have a fever, so going off feed can be an indicator of infection after a surgery. Nothing should ever be applied to a sutured area (creams or ointments) as they can interfere with the healing process. Sutures should be kept dry at all times. If a pup should remove one or two sutures, call your vet to see if they need to be replaced. New theory on skin healing: Keeping a sore/wound (unsutured) moist can speed healing. Antibiotic ointment will keep the skin soft and promote healing. Letting the skin dry out will cause itching, pain if skin has to stretch as in walking/running, skin may crack and ooze. When cleansing, always blot the skin, never rub. And be wary, if it is painful to her, she could get nippy.

| Oh my goodness! I just seen this. I am so sorry for your girl. My girl had the dissolving stitches also and didn't even have to go back for anything to be removed and she did great. I am so sorry you are going through this. Poor baby.

| I believe different vet/vet tech have different methods, the last time I brought my cat to another vet, the vet did it amazingly, leave no scar and the stitches weren't covered either. This time I didn't bring Sugar to the same vet because I thought the medical centre is better as the previous vet didn't do blood test before surgery, and the medical centre has blood bank so I thought in case of any emergency...medical centre would be safer I thought it's different from cats when I saw the adhesive, I really thought it's OK because they are the vets, they know better. But apparently I trusted the wrong person.. I will never never let this happen again. Sugar was very tired, she woke up just now, I checked the wound and I'm glad it looked much more better now, I will take a photo of her tummy later, and will post it up to update you. Thank you very much for all the concerns and messages, I truly appreciate it

| Happy Belated Birthday Sugar! So sorry your baby had to go through this. Your location says M'sia, is that Malaysia? If it is, then I'm assuming their (vet) techniques are not up to date. Maybe you can find a new vet that's had the proper continued schooling...IDK how you would go about doing that. Sorry, I'm no help, but I sure will keep Sugar in my thoughts & prayers & send well wishes & speedy recovery.
