The surgeon has good educations background, he graduated in a university in London (I checked before I handed Sugar). The funny thing was... I thought sending her to an animal hospital is better than animal clinic, I was so wrong, I should just stick to the vet who attended to my cat previously I wouldn't allow THIS vet to touch my furbaby again, not a chance!

| How's Sugar doing today? Give her gentle kisses from us! I'm not doubting their BG or education...it's just the covering up of sutures were not up to date by the looks of it. Vets (& any other medical profession) constantly need schooling to learn & catch up on recent findings & procedures imho.

| Oh my stars! They should not have covered that incision for sure. Poor little dog looks so sore. I hope she is doing WAY better now. We had our girl spayed four days ago today. She was done one morning, home the next morning. They never covered her incision and its approx. an inch and half long. They sent her home with metacam for pain for five days. I hope you will seriously consider getting another vet, but don't beat yourself up. YOU did nothing wrong. The vet did. It is his/her responsibility to care for you dog. I personally think they should have repaired the hernia also while she was under. Why subject them to two surgeries and anesthetics when it could have been done all at once. I think the muscle excuse is a load of hoopla..(JMHO) If you click on this link and click the picture you should be able to view larger.. I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | So sorry to read, this, I just thought I should share my experience. I had to have kidney surgery, and they used regular medical adhesive tape during the surgery. I guess, they have to kind of tie you to the table, or something. Anyway, the doctor didn't do anything wrong, I'm allergic to the tape, and that's exactly the way my skin looked afterwards. It was like I had third degree burns. It took longer for the skin to heal than the actual incision wound, so now whenever I'm asked about allergies, adhesive tape is on my list. Praying your baby has a speedy recovery!

This is the photo taken a day later, looked better than 1st day, but it's still hurting her, she cried at night I'm afraid this surgery will leave a terrible scar on her tummy

| Poor precious baby. Our thoughts are with you both. Please do not beat yourself up - you could not have known. I am not a trained professional, but I would have to say that the tape was certainly a grave mistake. Be sure and share your experience with the vet you choose, as they should be aware and be cautious as to not cause any further trauma to your little one. I pray she recovers well and heals quickly. Huggs

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Oh, I hope my post didn't come off like a poor me type of story, I'd just have never heard of anyone being allergic to adhesive tape, and the terrible burns that can result, I just wanted you to keep that in mind for Sugar's future.

| That's ridiculous and I've never in my life seen anything like that. I'd look for a new vet. I'm sorry she went through that. Elaine |

| Hello My little Bella was spayed January 13! and I couldn't believe how small the incision was! Absolutely NO covering, nothing! She didn't even know she had been spayed and never went after the stitches. It was truly a good experience for her and she loves the vet! I feel sooooo sorry for you and your precious little yorkie! What was that vet thinking???? I hope she is okay. Isabella's Mom |
