| I free feed all five of mine, and no weight issues here. But it seems as though they all eat at the same times! Mary |

| I used to free feed, but since my two eat two different things because of health issues. I feed 4-6 small meals a day, they are not always super hungry but it is still offered very frequently. No weight issues with mine they are both very lean.

| I free feed 6 with no weight issues either. They all take in as much as they want through out the day. If their bowls are empty I fill them up again. The vet has checked them and all are just fine.

| I free feed both my English setter and my yorkie. They are both great weights. They know when they need to eat and they don't over eat because they know ther will always be food when they want it. So they don't learn that they have to eat when the food is there, because when they are hungry it might not be there. My sister inlaws dog almost died because he was only eat two times a day, so he learned to eat up when it came. Then when my mother and father in law where watching him he got into their dog's food and eat the whole bag. He spend the night at the vet with lots of treatment. I am a strong believer that this is true with child too. They learn to eat what they need and not to over eat. |

| When I first got Lucy I was feeding her 3 times a day, for a total of 1/4 cup for the day and she'd gobble it up. I asked my vet and he said feed her twice a day and let her eat whatever she wanted to eat. He said to put out a bowl of food bigger than she'd ever be able to eat and she'll eat what she wants to eat and won't have weight issues. Ever since I put that big bowl down it's like she knows that she doesn't need to gobble down her food and eats when she wants to. I give her 3 tablespoons in the morning and the majority of it is still in there when I go to bed at night. Some days I'll give her another tablespoon (for a total of 1/4 of a cup for the day) around dinner but she rarely finishes her bowl and if she does, it's in the middle of the night. She usually gets one treat a day before I leave for work in the morning.

| I measure out 1/4 cup of dry food in the morning, and put something yummy in it, so she'll eat (like water off the canned organic chicken or a little teaspoon of scrambled egg) and feed her...what she doesn't eat in 30 minutes gets trashed...Then I leave out 1/4 cup dry, while I'm at work, in case she wants to nibble...I don't think she does, but I use that 1/4 cup dry, in the evening, since it's not been mixed up w/water or food or anything, and mix it up w/something wonderful, and same thing...30 minutes, then trashed...I don't leave anything out at night 'cause she's asleep lol...Works for us, but Apple is an only fur baby... |

| This probably sounds crazy but I free feed my English Bully and Yorkie.. They even share bowls... I do have 2 bowls but I started putting the same amount in both and they share nicely... Alot of mornings there is still food left... I think it is the cutest thing when they are eating out of the same bowl at the same time.. She is so much bigger than him.. |

| Since I have 4 dogs and one is a fat a$$, I can't do this any more. I feed them dry food, twice a day--no wet food--yorkies have enough dental issues and this can make it worse!!! |

| I also free feed. But I just have one furbaby. She has no weight issues. I feed her Eukanuba small breed. No table food. No wet food. Milk bones as only treats. So far so good. No issues. |

I also feed Teddy twice a day but it's almost like I free feed him because it takes him FOREVER to eat! He don't eat all at once! He gets distracted so I have to keep reminding him to eat!

| I free feed both of my Yorkies. One is 4 the other is 1 1/2. I have free feed both of them since I got them. Piper has been free feed since she started eating puppy food. Neither of them are overweight and they both eat like they should. They do not over-eat at all.

| I am a big fan of free feeding. I have done rescue my whole life (all breeds) and have found one of the main concerns is food aggression, overeating, and "resource allocation". I have two yorkies and a GSD in the house. They all eat from the same bowls....because, I put three down of three sizes and the big guy wants the tiny bowl and the little guy climbs IN the big bowl, so, everyone is on the same high quality diet and they all eat out of what amounts to a trough at this point! But my guy is 5 pounds exactly and has no weight or food agression issues, and the 100 pound GSD and the 5 pounder will eat side by side, cheek to jowl...and I swear the baby eats more! But I have always found if they KNOW KNOW KNOW there will always been fresh water and food, they don't gorge themselves (purging later on your carpet!) and they don't squabble over food. Mine don't even squabble over treats (although its hilarious to see my lil guy with a HUGE rawhide while the teapot yorkie nibbles daintily on what should have been the baby's tiny little treat!) |

| Another Free Feeder Here I also have always been a free feeder. I want them to always have food and water available. My schedule might not be their schedule and I don't ever have to worry if I am out and about that I might be late for a feeding. With Yorkies more prone to hypoglycemia, I felt it was better for them to have food at all times. None of mine have ever had a weight problem. In fact I worry they are sometimes too thin. But the vet says although they are classed as "lean," that is healthy and not to worry. I use one large bowl for all 4 of mine. I have tried them all with their own bowl but they seem to want to eat out of the same one anyway. So I went to a large shallow baking dish. I also have a puppy feeder that I use too. It has a raised area in the center that keeps the food all around the outside. That way they can all eat around it at the same time without reaching to the middle. They never fight with each other about food. Is there any reason not to free feed?

| I have always free fed my yorkie, and she is now 16 months. I brought in my little shih tzu pup and she eats out of the same bowl, no problems. She is now 12 weeks , and growing nicely.
