YT 1000 Club Member | Fleas...Grrrr! I put Advantyx on Roxie a week ago. I waited almost the week before giving her a much needed bath and today I see fleas on her. What is the deal with that? It's supposed to last a month and it hasn't been lasting that long all summer. But this time it's only been a week and I see them. I put it on exactly like your supposed to. I seperate the hair between the shoulder blades exposing the skin and put it directly on the skin. Why isn't it working? Should I be following up with flea spray or powder? I'm so frustrated!! |

| I've tried everything and have come to the conclusion that we now have mutant fleas that thrive on Frontline, Advantix, etc. I have found some of the biggest fleas I've ever seen this summer. Last summer - not one flea. That's the only good thing about the cold weather.

| I know that here in the south, there is a huge flea epidemic, they say due to the heat and the hurricanes stirring up everything. I have been fighting them and rarely let mine outside for any length of time during this bad spell. We rarely see temps cold enough to freeze them out so it should be a great year to fight fleas

| We use rosemary dip HI WE STOPPED USING THE FLEA CHEMICALS WHEN OUR BBY GOT A SEBACEOUS CYST RIGHT WHERE U PUT THAT STUFF ON THE NECK. AND HAVE USED HERBS SINCE. THERE IS FLEABANE FROM THE HERBALIST ..U CAN JUST DUST IT ON THEM OR ROLL UP A CLEAN HANKIE WITH SOME OF THE HERB, PUT IT AROUND THE NECK. OR U CAN WASH UR BBY WITH NEEM SHAMPOO OR WASH WITH UR USUAL SHAMPOO OR THE DAWN THING AND AFTER U RINSE UR BBY PUT A FINAL RINSE OF ROSEMARY. THE RATIO IS 1/2 TEASPOON OF THE DRIED ROSEMARY HERB IN A CUP OF BOILING WATER AND LET IT SIT TILL COOLED ...STRAIN THE HERB OUT OF THE WATER THEN POUR OVER THE BBY AND BLOW THE BBY DRY OR DRY NATURALLY.. SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED ..CROSS MY FINGERS FOR YEARS NOW. FOR THE CARPETS AND SUCH WE SPRINKLE WITH BAKING SODA AND SEA SALTS LEAVE FOR 20 MINUTES OR SO AND VACUUM FOR THE WEEK DAILY AND U CAN SPRINKLE THE BAKING SODA DAILY AND IF U LIKE U CAN ADD SOME LAVENDER OR FRAGRANCE TO THE BAKING SODA WE THINK THE CYST ON THE NECK CAME FROM THE STUFF ON THE NECK OVER THE YEARS, AS IT DOES GET INTO THE OIL GLANDS...IT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE CLOGGING..WE GOT RID OF THE CYST WITH ACV VINEGAR COMPRESSES ..READ THAT AT AN ACNE SITE WAS WELL WORTH THE TRY AND WITH GOOD RESULTS TOO ..NO SCARRING ON THE SKIN HOPE U CAN GET SOME INSIGHT FROM OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FLEAS. HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE AVON SKIN SO SOFT SEEMS TO KEEP THE FLEAS OFF..NOT SURE ABOUT THAT ONE.. |

| The only thing that has EVER worked for us was original dawn. But there is a trick to using it properly. Mix 50/50 water and original dawn (best grease fighter!) and apply it to a dry dog. Start by making a ring around where the collar would be (so the fleas can't escape to the head) and then lathering in the daw/water mixture. If you get the pup wet first, it gives the fleas a chance to form a grease bubble to protect itself from the water and soap. Cover the dog in lather, let it sit for up to 5 minutes, and rinse. It won't work if you don't vacuum your carpets and wash all the cloth in your home once you get rid of the fleas on the dog. If you can find fleas on them, then there are other fleas and their eggs all over your home. Those have to go too!

YT 1000 Club Member | I'm going to call the vet on Monday and see what they suggest. The Advantyx used to work great but not anymore. I never thought I'd say this but I can't wait untill the first frost!! |

| I really would recommend to anyone with fleas, Vectra and Capstar for the pets. Then for the carpets spread powder detergent with baking soda in it (Arm and Hammer makes some), let it sit for awhile, then vacuum it up. Then clean your carpets with a steam cleaner and clean your furniture, dog beds, human beds, clothes, etc.
