If you get the pup wet first, it gives the fleas a chance to form a grease bubble to protect itself from the water and soap. Cover the dog in lather, let it sit for up to 5 minutes, and rinse.
It won't work if you don't vacuum your carpets and wash all the cloth in your home once you get rid of the fleas on the dog. If you can find fleas on them, then there are other fleas and their eggs all over your home. Those have to go too! |
I couldn't stand Roxie having these fleas on her anymore so I did the Dawn wash just like it says here. It did work because I picked the dead fleas off of her. I think it irritated her skin as she was digging at herself all night long. I got up and checked her over good and couldn't find any fleas on her. So my question is, did it just irritate her skin? I felt so sorry for her all night and didn't know what to do for her. It was so bad I wanted to give her benadryl to calm the itch but wasn't sure of the dosage so I didn't do it. Any advice?
