| Thank you! Ok, she is now running around like crazy! I think I got all the fleas off of her, they were all up by her eys, and muzzle...we just put borax down and spraying the room with the spray and vaccummed.... I think Im going to do the spray from now on, and just bathe her with the baby shampoo...thanks again! PS...since this is on her, if she gets another flea, will it die off?

| Gee, I forgot what it is like living with flees and tics. I chose to retire to El Paso on the mountain because there are no flees or tics here. I do remember this little fact I had to kill flees in the yard, carpet, baseboards, furniture, on cats and dogs and it had to be with something that killed the eggs otherwise in a few weeks they would be right back. Best of luck in getting rid of thoes pests! |

| Call Orkin or some type of pest control. They will treat the fleas in your house and yard and will keep coming back until they are gone. |

| Hi all. For the yard, I use nematodes, which are microscopic beneficial insects. They eat fleas, flea larvae, mosquitoes, lots of bugs I don't care for! It's really easy to do, and it works. I have used them for years with really good results. They come in a sponge, you wet the sponge and water them into the yard. Juliet |

| Sorry, just now seeing this. I read through this whole thread and never saw Comfortis mentioned. It's a fairly new medication but the vet says it's been a godsend for so many people and their pets. We also used to use the topical oil once a month plus the Sentinel pill (for fleas and heartworms) but the flea infestation in our area was just incredible. We discovered also that Tatum has a flea allergy. Oh, her itching and red hives were terrible! Finally the vet recommended the Comfortis and we've been great ever since. We give the Sentinel pill to both dogs (other is an Aust. Shep.) on the first of the month and then the Comfortis pill on/around the 15th. We've been flea free ever since. You do need to treat the house and yard though also!

Thanks for the warning but I can see that we don't have anything to worry about as long as the dogs are not also being treated with Ivermectin for Demodicosis (which is a skin condition like mange). The use of the Ivermectin plus the Comfortis is what's dangerous. Good to know though. I know there are many drugs that used together could be very dangerous and we count on our vets to know this but it never hurts to do your own research!

They will treat until they are gone. You could end up spending as much on the stuff you buy (if not more). ![]() Been there and done that. I will never tackle a in house flea problem alone again. In the long run I think it is worth calling in back up! Knocking on wood no flea issues here (yet) in Maryland. But this past spring the small ticks were REALLY bad here in MD. I was pulling them out of my baby and he was on Frontline. I switched to K9 Advantix and they went away. Not sure if the tick season ended or if it was the meds. Staying with what works for now. I really like the natural remedy and will keep it in mind if I get into issues here.
