| Would not recemmend VPI Pet Insurance I purchased VPI Pet Insurance for Teddi because she was the most expensive dog I have ever bought so I thought it would be a good thing to get insurance plus I saw signs up at my work that they offer the insurance through payroll deduction. Well....the insurance is horrible and I don't even know why I have it! When I had to get Teddi's teeth pulled because they were impacted they didn't cover anything - they said they don't cover any baby teeth extractions. When Teddi got sick in November I submitted all her bills and they said that they don't cover liver shunts and because the final result was a liver shunt they won't cover it. They said they go by the end result and it doesn't matter than I took her in for reasons unknown they go by the end result. I think it is HORRIBLE that they won't cover ANYTHING. Even my vet thought they would pay up until we got a confirmed diagnosis but they said no. Apparently if the diagnosis is not on their list of covered things they don't cover it...they don't actually print a list of what is not covered. I feel like I am wasting my money by paying $33.86 a month for the policy! Just venting! Grrrrrr

| That's unfortunate for you. I'm very sorry you've had such a bad experience. It's stories like this that make me think my money would be better spent saved in a cookie jar.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Wow I would ask for a full refund of all I had paid and cancel the insurance. I know I have never heard anything good on dog insurance and I wouldn't have it. Put the amount in a saving account and then pay for anything that comes up.... I sorry you had such a problem.

| I've seen other bad reviews of the pet insurance. We were going to get it when we first got Rocky, but didn't and now I'm glad because it seems like it's just a waste of money.

| Yipes! I'm sorry they are not refunding you anything. I carry that insurance for Buddy as well. I have not used it, thank heavens, however, I have pages of things they do pay. It looked worth it to me. He was hospitalized before I got it and the bill was 2,200.00. From the printout I have for the ins. they would have covered quite a bit on all the procedures that were done to him. Sorry they didn't pay anything against your bill. I don't blame you for being upset. Hope your little one will be ok. |

| This is the same reason why I never got pet insurance.

| Me too. It's not like it'll help in an emergency, either. You STILL have to pay up front and hope and pray that they'll reimburse you something. They find ways to not pay.

| I canceled out VPI Insurance 6 months after getting Dior. They barely cover anything . I have a Credit card with no balance and a separate checking account for their medical bills.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have it on 3 of my 4 dogs. Cali was a very sick puppy and a lot of her expenses were denied because of the liver shunt but I did get close to 2,000 reimbursed on over 7000 in bills. On Pixie I fortunately only had to use it for 2 minor emergencies and got back about 300 out of 700. On Dixie (RIP) I only had her for 5 weeks before she passed and she had 1700 in bills VPI paid nothing due to it being congenital kidney failure. They did just refund all of my premium without my asking, it was 36.00 for the 5 weeks she was covered. I have it on Roxie and hope i won't need it. I just figure with 4 dogs if any one had a major accident or illness I would have the insurance to fall back on. I think for all 3 my premiums are 64.00 a month. I know I could save that but I wouldn't.

Very sad that they charge so much and pay out so little. Sorry that happened but I think most of these insurances are the same.

| I got the carecredit card for some dental work that I had to have done and you can put vet bills on there too. There is free financing depending on the amount you put on the card. If it is 300 then you get 3 months interest free and for 1000 you get 12 months free. (I think that is the amounts, not certain though.) But, it is an easy way to pay off bills and you cant charge anything but medical bills on it. I think that it would be a good alternative to pet insurance. |

| When Pet Insurance first came out (don't recall what company) We noticed right away it would not be of much use since it only covered things that are the least likely to go wrong. It's how they are getting rich. |
