Maybe some places are more stringent than others depending on what's going on locally. Things have been pretty strict here in Michigan for the past few years. Even our broke county has somehow come up with the money to get more employees knocking doors to show proof of dog license for any dog on their property (and you can't get a dog license without proof of rabies vaccination). http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/...igan_heal.html

Forgot to add my other link: Genesee County sends out beefed-up patrols in search of unlicensed dogs | MLive.com Don't they knock doors & check where you live? Every home I've lived in around here has been checked, although not every year.

| Idk if titers are "binding proof" or not.... I think I heard not. The other non core vacs or actually ALL vacs except rabies are not required by law.... But does the college student working for $7.50 at the hotel know this???

| Usually they hear them bark, that's how they know there's a dog inside (unless it's in the yard). They leave you a ticket telling you that you have 10 days to obtain a dog license (or provide proof that you already have one). If you fail to get your license in that time, you're issued a misdemeanor citation & a court date. They charge you fines & court fees and the punishment is up to 90 days in jail.....and still your dog needs a license or it's taken to animal control.

| I've never been asked. Not even when crossing the border with Kaji sitting on my lap. I had them just in case, but no one cared. Not exiting the US or entering.

Where do you enter & exit the USA with a dog on your lap & not get asked? I can't say always...but I don't remember a time that I had a dog with me, when I wasn't asked for a rabies certificate when entering Canada and then re-entering the USA via the Blue Water Bridge. And this trip I've done ALOT, as I can buy alot of English goods in Canada, not to mention there is a great lil tea shop in Ontario that serves a full english breakfast that is to die for and worth the 3 hour round trip all by itself.

I did something similar. The first time I begrudgingly paid the $100 license fee for Uni who was intact at the time. I did not know that if I applied for the license and she was not spayed it was that much, otherwise I wouldn't have ever gotten her the shot. She was already almost 3 yrs old by the time I finally got around to it. When the renewal came up, I wrote in on the form that I no longer had her and she ran away. AC came to the house and knocked on the door. BIL answered and AC asked if I still lived there and if I had Uni, he said yes! Meanwhile his dog is in the back, no shots ever, no license, no vetting and they didn't ask about him.

| I think they'd be more concerned with the pet fee the hotel collects and not asking about papers. When I called the hotel they mentioned nothing of vax records.

| How much does your vet charge for titers? and do you not get any type of papers afterwards to prove it?
